Role Summary
5C is a full-stack AI digital infrastructure provider that designs, develops, and operates scalable AI factories and purpose-built data center campuses engineered for speed, density, reliability, sustainability, and long-term performance across North America.
As 5C's data center facilities transition from development into live operation, this role provides deep electrical engineering authority for the operating portfolio. The Senior Facility Engineer - Electrical is a senior technical anchor who owns the hardest live-site electrical problems, from MV/LV distribution and protection through UPS, generators, and critical power, while mentoring engineers and setting the electrical engineering bar for the function.
What You Will Do
Act as the primary technical authority for electrical engineering across operational facilities, providing expertise in medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, electrical protection systems, UPS systems, generators, STS/RPP/PDU equipment, and grounding systems.
Lead complex technical investigations related to electrical incidents, including root cause analyses, failure mode studies, and reliability assessments. Define, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions through to full resolution.
Review and approve operational procedures (MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs), electrical switching plans, and high-risk energized work activities. Provide technical leadership during critical events, outages, major alarms, and abnormal operating conditions, while participating in the L3/L4 technical escalation rotation.
Represent the engineering team during design reviews, commissioning activities, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and operational handovers. Identify single points of failure, redundancy losses, and arc flash or short-circuit risks; maintain electrical documentation, single-line diagrams, and protection settings; mentor engineers; and establish regional electrical engineering technical standards.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
6+ years in data centers, critical facilities, or mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
Strong command of MV/LV distribution, protection and coordination, UPS, generators, and critical power systems.
Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, protection schemes, commissioning reports, and test data.
Strong judgment, written communication, and the ability to remain calm and direct under pressure during live events.
