How you will create an impact

 

  • Take ownership for achieving goals and outcomes.
  • Oversee a range of programs and processes, in addition to handling complex underwriting.
  • Successfully balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, judgment, and a risk mindset.
  • Build effective relationships with brokers and to deliver a high standard of customer service as an example for the team to follow.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and learning while mentoring and developing colleagues through effective leadership, role modeling, and training programs.
  • Facilitate personal growth and career development, supporting succession planning.
  • Play a key role in new business development, including attending broker events and building new relationships across the market.


What you’ll need to succeed

 

  • Proven underwriting experience in Excess Casualty and a successful record of selling Environmental, Excess or Primary Casualty, NA Auto, WC, AL, GL, DBA, Foreign Casualty products to clients.
  • Deep technical expertise.
  • Proven people management skills and a record of developing more junior colleagues is highly desired.
  • The ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer and sales-orientated behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.

For positions based in Chicago the base salary range for this position is $145,000-$175,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.  Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.  In addition, we’re proud to offer a range of competitive benefits, a summary of which can be viewed here: US Benefits Overview.
