Scope of Position

Scope of Job: The Senior EPC Project Manager (Sr. EPC PM) is responsible for leading EPC execution activities in accordance with EDFR’s safety, quality, and management standards, for Utility-Scale Solar, On-Shore Wind, and Energy Storage Projects within EDFR’s portfolio. They will work with cross-functional teams and subject-matter-experts to manage EPC contractors from contractor selection, through execution, completion and project handover, and support advanced stage project development activities such as EPC services procurement and contracting. 

Responsibilities
  • EPC Project Execution
    • Manage the implementation of the EPC contract and the project execution plan.
    • Manage and work closely with the EDF site team, internal and external subject matter experts.
    • Accountable for project safety, quality, budget, and schedule control.
    • Lead or participate in day-to-day coordination activities (Plan-of-day meetings, monthly meetings, engineering meetings).
    • Accountable for implementation of transport and logistics plan with respect to Owner Provided Equipment.
    • Accountable for Testing and Commissioning plan preparation and implementation.
    • Perform project close-out activities, such as claims settlement, lessons learned, cost and schedule analysis.
  • EPC Contracting
    • Accountable for negotiation of technical and commercial contract exhibits.
    • Coordinate internal exhibits review with subject matter experts.
    • Contribute to negotiation of the EPC contract.
  • EPC Services Procurement
    • Support RFP Bid evaluation and contractors’ selection.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: 
    • Contribute to or lead initiatives such as improving processes and developing tools. 
    • Evaluate feasibility and impact of LCOE reduction initiatives.
    • Evaluate and incorporate lessons learned.                                 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision of Others: 1-2 direct, 5-7 indirect.

Working Conditions: Approximately 80% of the time is spent in the office environment, using computers (frequent use of MS Office Suite), phones, and general office equipment. Approximately 20% of the time is spent in the field nationally and internationally, visiting projects, evaluating sites, and meeting project team members and various stakeholders.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience including comprehensive and diversified knowledge of the construction industry, renewables EPC market, including knowledge of renewables industry best management practices, codes, standards, and engineering principles.
  • Extensive experience working and negotiating with EPC Contractors on contracts exceeding $100M.
  • Experience executing projects in accordance with project management principles.
  • Experience working in cross-functional organization structure.
  • Experience leading a project execution team.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with counterparties of varied interests and levels of technical and business expertise.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with geographically disperse, cross functional team members (i.e., engineering, construction, program management, developers, etc.)
  • Adaptability to changing market conditions and shifting business priorities.
  • Knowledge of renewable power plant design (electrical, civil, etc.)
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project offtake and financing structures.
  • Knowledge of national and regional regulatory environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, ability to work well with others and be a good team player.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written), and with MS Office Suite (Excel, Project, Power Point).

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, visit job sites.
