Position Summary

As a Senior Engineering Program Manager, New Product Development, you will play a critical role in bringing innovative healthcare and reprocessing solutions from concept to commercialization. Reporting to the Reprocessing Product Development Program Management Office (PMO), you will lead complex global development programs that shape the future of STERIS product offerings and directly support our mission.

This role combines strategic leadership, technical program management, and cross-functional collaboration. You will guide multidisciplinary teams through the complete product development lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of capital equipment and consumable product solutions that meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.

The programs you lead represent key strategic investments for STERIS and provide regular exposure to executive leadership across the organization.

Location: Beauport, QC (Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite)

What You'll do as a Senior Engineering Project Manager at STERIS

  • Collaborate with the Product Management team on business case justification and roadmap alignment.
  • Develop the cross-functional plan/execution strategy and drives implementation of identified products on the roadmap for a product line or platform.
  • Ensure compliance with the NPD / Design Control / lifecycle management processes across all functions. Owns the overall project management of the product development to ensure outcomes that meet quality, costs, reliability and manufacturability requirements.
  • Responsible for leading a minimum of 1 large complex project and 1 medium project.
  • Develop Integrated Program / project schedule, financial budget and leads delivery / presentation of NPD Project Deliverables Plan at stage gates and at VP-level sponsor reviews.
  • Monitor project team adherence to master plans / schedules / operating budgets, identifies program risks / mitigation solutions and promotes continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary leader for program activities, leading decision-making / change management and technical performance.
  • Drive project teams to make decisions, complete tasks, and execute the plan based on defined deliverables and timelines. Facilitates communication and interaction across R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Operation functional leadership to ensure transparency of critical deliverables, risks and milestones in the NPD process.
  • Conduct regular status meetings, technical discussions and reviews to expedite solutions and implementation.
  • Coordinate and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensure smooth transition across the organization for initial concept through product development, manufacturing and product launch.
  • Identify critical dependences, risks and contingency plans. Proactively monitors progress, anticipating the effect of dependencies on schedule, cost, etc.
  • Provide performance feedback regarding team members to appropriate Functional Managers
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating project outcomes, tracking key performance indicators identifying areas for optimization and implementing lessons learned in future projects.


The Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification;
  • At least 6 years of experience leading engineering programs or product development projects;
  • Fluency in English and French;
  • Experience working within a regulated industry and understanding of regulatory and quality requirements;
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority;
  • Strong communication, negotiation, conflict-resolution, and executive presentation skills;
  • Experience collaborating across diverse business functions including R&D, Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Legal, Marketing, and Clinical Affairs;
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a matrixed global organization;
  • Willingness to domestic travel up to 10%.


Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Experience in New Product Development, R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, or Engineering Leadership;
  • Medical device industry experience;
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven business decisions;
  • Experience managing complex technical programs involving multiple stakeholders and global teams;
  • Interest in leveraging digital tools, automation, and AI technologies to improve program management effectiveness.
