Senior Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering to join our team. The ManufacturingEngineer will own sustaining and quality assurance activities for commercial products and lead continuous improvement projects to drive process efficiency and reduce product variation. The Engineer will work closely with various business functions to support manufacturing processes and resolve customer product quality inquiries. The position is within the CMP Polishing Pads Business with specific focus in the Machining and Lamination manufacturing process. This position reports to the
Manufacturing Engineering Manager. What You'll Do: - Sustain productivity and quality levels of the manufacturing process. Activities include dispositioning of non-conforming materials (raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods), establish/review/update SPC/SQC control limits, maintain FMEAs and Control Plans, and participate in customer quality and ISO audits.
- Optimize and drive productivity in the manufacturing process by identifying opportunities and implementing solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Monitor and manage continuous improvement plans.
- Reduce variation in product and process parameters by identifying key contributors to variation and implementing effective control systems and enhanced manufacturing processes.
- Conduct root cause investigations of manufacturing out-of-control conditions by troubleshooting equipment and processes, observing and performing experiments, locating the source of problems and implementing permanent effective corrective actions.
- Act as the equipment and process technical expert and provide training and certification to the Operation Associates. Provide technical troubleshooting guidance to the Operation Associates, the Process Engineering Technicians, and maintenance team. This includes periodic "On Call" support.
- Act as a mentor to the Process Engineering Technician role and direct the role's day-to-day and long-term project activities based on business need.
- Develop and execute Design of Experiment trials, manage new product scale-ups, and lead new equipment installations & qualifications as dictated by business need.
- Manage the development of processing equipment operating programs and parameters.
- Perform machine breakdown resolution by providing expertise and hands-on assistance to remedy and correct issues. Manage external repair resources as needed for technical repairs.
- Assist in improving upon the preventative maintenance program to optimize machine and equipment uptime for production.
- Participate as a member of a global engineering team to transfer best practices across sites and unit operations.
- Improve upon quality and utilization on automation equipment and processes. Develop plans and lead expansion of future equipment incorporating current learnings to allow for enhancement and advancement in subsequent equipment revisions.
- Collaborate with development engineering in transfers of new products and processes and manage new product scale-ups.
- Effectively work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements that improve profitability, efficiency, and productivity in the manufacturing process.
What We Seek: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or related field. (BSE + 5 years, MSE + 5 years, or PhD preferred; equivalent experience considered.)
- Experience with chemical blending, injection molding, or compression molding is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment with programmable user interfaces is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing planning and/or raw material coordination is preferred.
- Capital Project management experience is preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred.
- Experience with statistical software is required, experience with Minitab and/or JMP preferred.
