Job's Mission

As a Senior Field Service Engineer at ASM, you will play a critical role in supporting leading semiconductor manufacturers by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting ASM's advanced semiconductor capital equipment. Working directly in customer fabrication facilities, you will leverage your technical expertise to maximize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and deliver exceptional customer support. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge semiconductor technology while serving as a technical leader, driving complex issue resolution, and developing advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
What You Will Be Working On
  • Perform installation, qualification, startup, checkout, and decommissioning of ASM's complex semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Execute preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on ASM semiconductor systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, software, vacuum, gas delivery, RF plasma, robotics, and microprocessor-controlled systems.
  • Conduct advanced diagnostic procedures to isolate equipment issues and develop effective corrective action plans.
  • Implement engineering changes, field modifications, and equipment upgrades as released through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Respond to customer equipment issues and provide timely, accurate, and high-quality technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with ASM technical support, engineering teams, and customers to resolve complex equipment performance issues.
  • Maintain detailed service documentation, maintenance records, parts usage records, and management reports.
  • Prepare and communicate daily status updates, pass-down reports, and issue escalations.
  • Share lessons learned, troubleshooting findings, and technical resolutions with internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through professional service delivery and proactive communication.
  • Follow ASM safety procedures and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Work in semiconductor cleanroom environments while adhering to required PPE and safety protocols.
  • Travel domestically and internationally (25-75%) as required to support customer operations.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military technical training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of field service, customer support, or semiconductor manufacturing experience involving complex capital equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with complex microprocessor-controlled electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, electromechanical, pneumatic, and system schematics and drawings.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance, installations, repairs, and system diagnostics.
  • Working knowledge of oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters (DVMs), and common diagnostic tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and effectively in team environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Ability to work in semiconductor cleanroom environments and travel up to 25-75% as business needs require.
