Job Description:

Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Engineer - Design - Electrification at its facility located at 2427 E. Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Conceive and provide practical product design applications using complex technical principles. Create concepts and direct the design and development of complex engineering projects. Prepare concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects. Lead and coordinate the design, analysis and computer simulation effort. Prepare development plans and be responsible for meeting scheduled dates. Act as the development team leader by interacting with Plant locations and various engineering departments. Conduct technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products and coordinate product tests with proven design and prototype build up and test areas. Provide guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the product project to ensure development schedules are met. Evaluate, define, and resolve design and manufacturing problems. Travel to Caterpillar plants, dealerships, and customer job sites to solve design problems or to field-test locations to evaluate product improvements. Use technical expertise and product knowledge in problem resolution processes when interfacing with test and evaluation, service, plant personnel, suppliers, and consultants. Work with manufacturability teams to resolve problems with manufacturing and statistical process controls. No telecommuting. Up to 10% domestic travel required.

REQS: This position requires a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) AutoCAD/Bluebeam for schematics; (2) Design and development of DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters for high efficiency and high-reliability applications; (3) Circuit simulations using tools like MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, LTspice, or PSIM; (4) Selection and evaluation of power semiconductor devices including: IGBTs, MOSFETs, and SiC/GaN; (5) NEC, EPA< SAE J1995, OSHA, IEC, ROHS and UL; (6) Up to 1.5KV converter design and architecture; (7) At least one of the following: Rectifiers, Transformers (Dry and wet type), Batteries (NMC and LFP); and (8) PVsyst/etap for incident and short-circuit analysis.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
