Role Summary

We're looking for a Senior Android Engineer to build high-quality mobile experiences across the Fanatics Collectibles ecosystem. Depending on business needs, you may support one or more of our products or platforms, partnering with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering to solve complex customer and technical problems.

As a senior engineer, you'll independently own significant features and technical initiatives from design through production. You'll help shape technical solutions, improve the quality and scalability of our Android applications, and provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers.

This role is ideal for an engineer who combines deep Android expertise with strong product judgment and thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do
Build Exceptional Android Experiences

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
• Own complex features and technical initiatives from design through implementation, launch, and ongoing operation.
• Partner closely with Product and Design to translate customer needs into intuitive, performant mobile experiences.
• Build applications that are reliable, scalable, accessible, and responsive across a broad range of Android devices.

Provide Technical Leadership

• Make sound architectural and technical decisions within the Android domain and contribute to broader mobile engineering decisions.
• Identify technical risks and opportunities and recommend solutions that balance product velocity, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Establish and promote engineering practices that improve code quality, testing, observability, and developer productivity.
• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to engineers while raising the quality of engineering execution across the team.

Drive Quality & Operational Excellence

• Improve application performance, stability, security, and reliability through measurement and continuous improvement.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across mobile applications and their supporting services.
• Use monitoring, experimentation, and customer feedback to identify opportunities to improve product and technical performance.
• Reduce technical debt and evolve existing systems while balancing near-term product priorities.

Collaborate Across Teams

• Partner with backend, platform, iOS, web, data, and other engineering teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences.
• Collaborate effectively with Product, Design, Data, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and navigate technical tradeoffs.
• Contribute to technical planning and help break complex initiatives into clear, executable work.
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience building and shipping Android applications.
• Deep proficiency with Kotlin and the modern Android ecosystem.
• Strong knowledge of Android architecture, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, persistence, and performance optimization.
• Experience with modern Android frameworks and practices such as Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, dependency injection, and automated testing.
• Experience designing and delivering complex features with limited oversight.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and how mobile applications interact with backend services.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex technical problems and drive them through resolution.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Experience providing technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building high-scale consumer mobile products.
• Experience with commerce, marketplaces, livestreaming, social platforms, payments, or other transaction-oriented products.
• Experience with mobile observability, experimentation, analytics, and performance tooling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and mobile release automation.
• Experience working within a shared mobile platform or multi-product engineering environment.
• Passion for sports, collectibles, fandom, or building products that bring communities together.

The salary range represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. This salary range is specific to New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. $160,000-$200,000 USD
