Job Description

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for providing technical leadership, innovation, and project engineering regarding machine, process and design in order to ensure products satisfy cost, timing and performance requirements. A strong background in injection molding related to part design, tooling, processing, materials and secondary manufacturing operations, is required.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Successfully manage and execute engineering, innovation and development projects
  • Collaborate with applicable teams to define project scope
  • Determine project objectives, create and maintain timelines, outline project requirements, assign tasks, and oversee progress
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, with all deliverables satisfied
  • Establish and lead relationships with customers from a technical and design perspective
  • Lead design reviews with vendors, customers and Amcor plants
  • Demonstrate strong subject matter expertise specific to injection molding projects
  • Review and / or initiate new business opportunities, primarily related to injection molding
  • Specify and quote injection equipment and tooling
  • Work with customers and internal resources to ensure optimized part design for injection molding
  • Interface with operations to ensure product, tooling and manufacturing aspects satisfy operational requirements
  • Work with operations to develop foundational processes
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to product, process, deliverables, timing and manufacturing
  • Work with applicable teams to successfully deliver products for plant handoff
  • Train and empower others and provide guidance to team members
  • Maintain current knowledge of technical innovations through research, conferences, training, and industry contacts


Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Requires 6-8 years of relevant engineering and injection molding experience
  • Experience in small-part injection molding with a preference towards manufacturing pharmaceutical and medical device products, child-resistant closures, triggers, sprayers, applicators, and secondary operations such as decoration, assembly, etc.
  • Capable of process optimization using scientific molding principles
  • Requires the ability to explain the implications of engineering work.
  • Travel 20%
