Full Job Description
This position has a home-based office in the Metro Detroit area and requires the use of a personal vehicle with up to 25% local travel.

Day-to-Day

You will join a team dedicated to helping commercial and industrial customers reduce their energy use and optimize their system performance by providing technical expertise through energy efficiency programs, training initiatives, and direct-to-customer consulting services. Some of the day-to-day activities you would be involved with might include:
  • Identifying and quantifying energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Performing energy and economic analyses.
  • Reviewing energy assessments, opportunities, and calculations.
  • Collaborating with customers, assisting with technical questions, and developing projects.
  • Preparing reports and delivering presentations.
  • Conducting site surveys, system investigations, and facilities assessments.
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to team members, fostering knowledge-sharing and continuous learning.
  • Supporting customers with utility energy efficiency programs.
  • Traveling to customer sites as needed (up to 25% of the time).

Additional Information

The pay range for this role is $93,300-$135,000 per year.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline with a minimum of seven (7) years of professional engineering experience.
  • Non-degreed professional will be considered with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in energy assessments and commissioning/retro-commissioning-related work.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with a focus on energy engineering, energy consulting, building system performance consulting, or energy-related systems. Preferred experience includes:
    • Engineering support for utility energy efficiency programs.
    • Retro-commissioning of HVAC, lighting, and process systems.
    • New building systems commissioning.
    • HVAC system assessments for general conditions and to identify energy savings opportunities.
    • ASHRAE level I, II, III energy auditing for commercial and industrial facilities.
    • Energy and economic analyses based on trending, bin weather data, and regression analysis.
    • Utilizing BMS for trending, field measurement, and verification work.
    • Developing and applying custom calculators, tools, and models to calculate and verify energy savings from implemented energy efficiency measures.
    • Applying measurement and verification techniques to investigate systems, develop corrective action projects, and verify successful project implementation upon completion.
    • Working on-site with commercial and industrial customers.
    • Writing reports and delivering presentations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, pumps, chilled water, hot water, steam, compressed air, and industrial processes.
  • Knowledge of decarbonization strategies for buildings and industries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Preferred certifications: CEM, CEA, CMVP, EBCP, and PE.
