About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Linux / BSP Platform Engineer to take technical ownership of embedded Linux platforms, from hardware bring-up, bootloader, BSP and Linux kernel through device drivers, networking, security, and embedded applications.
The role combines platform engineering with hands-on product development for solutions such as Smart Metering Data Concentrators and BPL proxy solutions for grid visibility and flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead board bring-up, BSP development, Linux kernel, Device Tree, U-Boot, and device-driver development.
- Develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms across multiple hardware products.
- Develop and integrate embedded applications for smart metering, BPL communications, visibility, and flexibility solutions.
- Diagnose complex issues across the bootloader, kernel, drivers, networking, security, and application layers.
- Work with Ethernet, VLAN/bridge, routing, TCP/UDP, multicast, and network management protocols.
- Develop and troubleshoot applications using protocols such as DHCP, FTP/FTPS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, and related network services.
- Understand and apply basic network and communication security, including secure transport, authentication, certificates/keys, and secure remote access.
- Use JTAG, GDB/OpenOCD, UART/serial console, and other tools for system-level debugging.
- Maintain Yocto/OpenEmbedded/BitBake build environments and contribute to CI/CD and automated hardware validation.
- Support firmware flashing, recovery, production testing, and field issue investigation.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, QA, and system teams and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
Required Qualification
- 5+ years of professional embedded software development, including significant hands-on Embedded Linux experience.
- Strong C programming skills and embedded application development experience.
- Hands-on experience with Linux kernel, BSP, device drivers, U-Boot, and Device Tree./
- Proven board bring-up and hardware/software integration experience.
- Strong hardware debugging skills using JTAG, GDB/OpenOCD, UART, or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and common network/application protocols, including DHCP, SNMP, MQTT, FTP/FTPS, HTTP/HTTPS, and SSH.
- Understanding of embedded communication security, authentication, certificates/keys, and secure protocols.
- Ability to read schematics and datasheets and perform systematic root-cause analysis.
- Strong Git and software development practices.
- Ability to work across the hardware bootloader Linux driver networking and security application stack.
