Full Job Description
About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by driving resolution of electro-mechanical product issues, improving product cost and manufacturability, and managing component lifecycle risks. This position is highly cross-functional and focused on sustaining engineering, root cause investigation, and continuous improvement of production processes and products.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on troubleshooting capability, deep understanding of electrical systems and PCBAs, and experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Details

Manufacturing Support & Issue Resolution
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for electro-mechanical product failures observed in production and the field.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems, PCBAs, and integrated electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Support production teams in resolving technical issues to minimize downtime and ensure delivery commitments.
• Partner with quality and manufacturing teams to drive containment, corrective, and preventive actions (CAPA).

Quality & Reliability Improvement
• Analyze failure trends and implement design or process improvements to enhance product reliability.
• Support failure analysis activities including test development, data collection, and reporting.
• Work closely with design engineering to implement design changes that improve manufacturability and robustness.

Cost Reduction Initiatives
• Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through component changes, design optimization, and process improvements.
• Evaluate alternative components and suppliers while ensuring compliance with performance and quality requirements.
• Support value engineering and cost-down projects across existing product lines.

Component Obsolescence Management
• Monitor and manage electronic component lifecycle risks, including obsolescence and supply constraints.
• Lead redesign or requalification efforts to replace obsolete components with minimal impact to product performance and certification.
• Collaborate with product management and procurement to ensure continuity of supply.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Interface with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to resolve issues and implement improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Support documentation updates including schematics, BOMs, work instructions, and test procedures.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on PCBA and OEM product manufacturing and testing.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, signal generators, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with failure analysis techniques and reliability engineering principles.
• Experience with component selection, qualification, and obsolescence management.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, including PCBA assembly and test.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., UL, CE, RoHS, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with high-reliability product designs (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical devices).
• Familiarity with FPGA and/or embedded systems.
• Certification in Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies.
