As a Senior Electrical Engineer - FPGA, you will play a key role on an Integrated Program Team (IPT), designing and developing sophisticated digital solutions for complex aerospace and defense systems. In this highly collaborative and hands-on role, you will contribute across the full development lifecycle, including FPGA architecture and design, RTL development, verification, timing closure, laboratory integration, hardware fault isolation, and system qualification testing.

What You Will Do
  • Requirements capture, FPGA digital architecture and design using RTL, timing closure, verification, and system integration
  • Optimize FPGA implementations to meet performance, power, and size constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate FPGA solutions into larger systems
  • Follow all applicable development processes, procedures, and guidelines
  • Participate in Agile team meetings and planning activities
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • May provide technical leadership for project design teams by breaking down work, planning activities, and reporting status
  • Contribute to engineering estimates for new program pursuits


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Demonstrated experience developing RTL designs using VHDL and/or Verilog in a professional FPGA or ASIC development environment.
  • Proficient in VHDL/Verilog for FPGA/ASIC design and implementation
  • Experience in digital circuit architecture, design, resource tradeoffs, timing analysis, and timing closure
  • Familiarity with FPGA platforms such as AMD/Xilinx, Altera, Microchip, or others, and associated toolchains (e.g., Vivado, Quartus, Libero)
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for FPGA/ASIC systems
  • Proficiency with revision control concepts and tools (e.g., Git, Subversion)


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and protocols (e.g., DDR, PCIe, Ethernet)
  • Experience in ASIC / FPGA lab validation using advanced laboratory equipment
  • Familiarity with best-practice chip-level verification techniques and languages (e.g., constrained random, functional coverage, System Verilog)
  • Testbench creation using Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems
  • Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments, scripting or software development

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
