Full Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer who is ready to take on complex technical challenges and play a key role in a rapidly growing electrical distribution team. This position supports overhead and underground utility infrastructure projects across Ontario and is ideal for an experienced professional looking to combine deep technical expertise with leadership and mentorship and who'd like to advance their career towards Project Management. You will be based in either our Mississauga or Kitchener, ON offices in a hybrid model (2 days /week in the office).
You will work on a wide range of electrical distribution infrastructure including poles, wires, duct banks, transformers, vaults, HV cables, and other hydro assets, ensuring designs meet client standards, engineering best practices, and safety requirements.
What You'll Do:
• Oversee and lead engineering activities related to the design of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems up to 44 kV.
• Review and approve construction drawings, calculations, bills of materials, and work packages
• Support project management from service requests through to delivery - on time, on budget, and to quality standards
• Resolve complex design and field issues using sound engineering judgment
• Work closely with utilities, municipalities, clients, and contractors to define scope and technical requirements
• Maintain high client satisfaction by fostering long-term client relationships and ensuring the best possible project outcomes
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to internal standards and best practices
• Propose innovative improvements to processes, procedures, and design approaches
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• P.Eng. designation in Ontario
• 12+ years of experience in electrical engineering with strong focus on utility distribution systems
• Proven experience with overhead and underground systems 4kV
• Knowledge of Ontario utility standards, CSA C22 series, ON Reg 22/04, and major utility client standards (e.g., Toronto Hydro, Alectra, Enwin, Hydro One, USF etc)
• Experience with tools such as SPIDAcalc, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and GIS systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary and remote teams
• Valid Ontario driver's licence and ability to attend site visits
