JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for systems concept development, definition, and layout for complete aircraft interior wiring installations, including grounding and bonding calculations and related certification documentation. This role creates and reviews 2D drawings for electrical systems, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies as required. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to completing projects on time while representing the company's core values.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

  • Apply aircraft wiring design practices to develop interior wiring systems in accordance with FAA regulations, OEM standards, and customer requirements.
  • Use manufacturer specifications, customer specifications, and engineering drawings to design aircraft interior wiring systems and related parts such as brackets and control panels.
  • Produce accurate drawings including wiring diagrams, wire harnesses, and electrical installation drawings while meeting release schedules.
  • Prepare test plans, reports, and engineering analyses, including:
    • Electrical load analysis
    • Acceptance test plans
    • Grounding and bonding substantiation
    • Passenger address system substantiation
  • Check drawings and prepare engineering change notices (ECNs) as needed to support manufacturing.
  • Develop high-quality designs while balancing cost, safety, manufacturability, and project schedule requirements.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, and other engineering data required for production, testing, and qualification of designed equipment.
  • Serve as a shop liaison during initial production units to resolve engineering issues and support manufacturing personnel.
  • Apply aerospace/OEM standard practices in engineering drawings and design documentation.
  • Evaluate supplier lead times, cost, and availability of electrical components and parts.
  • Apply a working knowledge of airworthiness requirements for passenger aircraft interiors.
  • Apply a foundational understanding of electrical engineering, particularly power systems.
  • Perform wire harness 3D design, wire harness installation drawings, wiring diagrams, and 3D modeling of complex top-level assemblies.
  • Model and analyze avionics enclosures and secondary structures using CATIA V5 or equivalent 3D modeling software.
  • Research, select, and procure appropriate connectors, backshells, contacts, wire, shielding, and cable construction to meet environmental and performance requirements.
  • Manage top-level part numbers, BOM structures, and master geometry models for assigned units.
  • Provide engineering design dispositions for discrepancies, including rejection tags, production action requests, and shop revision requests.
  • Oversee the work of others by providing mentorship and guidance to more junior engineers.


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS - Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:
  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience with at least
  • 1 year leading or mentoring the work of assigned employees.

Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of CATIA for component design, assembly design, and drafting
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and OEM electrical design requirements, guidelines, and specifications

  • Extended or irregular hours may be required.
