Full Job Description
LB Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Director, People & Culture Business Partner to serve as a trusted partner to leaders across the organization and help shape how we grow.

This is an individual contributor role in a lean, high-growth organization. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable advising the Executive Team and rolling up their sleeves to build and execute. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating practical solutions from the ground up and driving meaningful outcomes without layers of staff.

No two days will look the same. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between talent strategy, leadership coaching, organizational challenges, process design, and execution based on the needs of the business.

We are looking for a collaborative, hands-on People leader with deep life sciences expertise and a track record of supporting commercial growth.

The ideal candidate has worked in a small, scrappy biotech environment and helped an organization scale through a significant growth or commercialization inflection point. This is an opportunity to have meaningful impact, work closely with the Executive Team, and build the organizational capabilities needed for LB's future success.

Responsibilities

Strategic People Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leaders and members of the Executive Team.
  • Partner with leaders across assigned functions and enterprise priorities on organizational design, team effectiveness, role clarity, workforce planning, and people strategy.
  • Coach leaders and managers on employee relations, employee experience, performance, feedback, team leadership, and sensitive people matters.
  • Facilitate practical discussions and decisions related to organizational health, leadership effectiveness, accountability, and business performance.
  • Anticipate organizational challenges and recommend solutions that address near-term priorities while supporting long-term growth.
  • Use employee feedback and organizational insights to identify opportunities for improvement and help leaders build engaged, inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Partner across a broad range of people, leadership, and organizational priorities, adapting focus as the needs of a growing company evolve.

Talent Management & Leadership Development
  • Lead and strengthen key talent management processes, including performance management, calibration, succession planning, and talent reviews.
  • Partner with leaders to identify, develop, and retain high-potential talent and critical successors.
  • Build scalable leadership development and manager effectiveness programs that fit LB's culture and stage of growth.
  • Drive talent discussions that align organizational capability with business strategy and commercialization readiness.

Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting commercial build-out, commercialization readiness, and/or commercial scale-up.
  • Experience working in a lean, high-growth, or small-company environment where leaders are expected to be both strategic and hands-on.
  • Experience partnering directly with Executive Teams and senior business leaders.
  • Significant expertise across organizational effectiveness and design, talent management, leadership development, workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, change management, and HR business partnership.
  • Proven ability to build and implement scalable people practices in a growth-oriented organization.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and translate strategy into practical execution.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting a late-stage clinical or pre-commercial biotechnology company.
  • Experience building the organizational infrastructure required for commercial growth.
  • Experience supporting Commercial, Medical Affairs, Technical Operations, Research & Development, and Corporate functions.

Personal Qualifications
  • Versatile and adaptable, with the ability to move seamlessly between strategy, coaching, problem solving, project leadership, and execution based on business needs.
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment where priorities shift, new challenges emerge, and opportunities to contribute extend beyond a narrowly defined role.
  • Comfortable operating as an individual contributor, with the confidence and humility to do the work directly in a flat organization.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves mindset, whether facilitating a talent review, coaching a leader, creating a framework, analyzing workforce data, or drafting a process.
  • Resourceful and pragmatic, with the ability to balance quality, speed, and scale in a growing organization.
  • Able to move fluidly between executive advisory work and hands-on execution.
  • Exceptional listener and thought partner who builds trust through curiosity, credibility, and follow-through.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect people strategy to clinical, operational, and commercial priorities.
  • High emotional intelligence and executive presence, with the ability to coach, challenge, and influence senior leaders.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, with a bias for clarity, accountability, and progress.
  • Collaborative and low ego, with a strong desire to listen, partner, and build alongside the People & Culture team and Executive Team.
