What is this role and why does it exist? The Chamber is in more places than ever, and the experience now reaches well beyond the session itself. It includes the screen a guest touches before they lie down, the guidance they hear inside, the tools our partners use to run their day, and the website where many people first meet us. Capable people design each of these today, often in parallel. What we need now is one leader who holds them together as a single experience.
The VP of Experience Design leads design across the Chamber, our software, and our digital presence. Over time you will build the experience design team, the design system, and the standards that keep the experience coherent as we grow. You will report to our Chief Product Officer and work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Operations. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will set direction, and you will also sit in the work.
Responsibilities:- Experience vision and strategy: Define the end-to-end experience for Ammortal, from first impression to the moment a guest steps out of the Chamber. Translate it into principles, priorities, and a design roadmap shared with Product and Engineering.
- Chamber and software experience: Lead the design of every interface people use with the Chamber, including on-Chamber controls, the kiosk, in-session guidance, and the apps and tools our partners and guests rely on. Make each one calm, clear, and trustworthy, for first-time guests and regulars alike.
- One design system across every touchpoint: Build and own a unified design system, grounded in the Ammortal brand, that spans the Chamber, our software, and ammortal.com. Partner with Marketing and other teams so the website, the product, and the session room feel like one company, one product, one experience.
- Team and partner leadership: Lead, grow, and mentor Ammortal's internal design team, including interaction design. Direct external design partners and agencies with clear briefs and a single bar for quality.
- Research and craft standards: Build a research practice that brings guests, partners, and staff into major product decisions. Set the reviews, specifications, and standards that turn design intent into shipped quality.
Skills to Excel- Systems thinking across physical and digital
- The Chamber is an object, a room, a screen, and a voice. This person treats them as one system and designs the transitions between them as carefully as each surface.
- Restraint and taste
- Our first design tenet is "Less, but better." This person removes before adding, and can explain why a choice earns its place.
- Calm, credible leadership
- Earns trust with engineers, marketers, and executives. Gives clear direction to internal teams and outside partners without adding process for its own sake.
- Research-led judgment
- Turns what guests, partners, and staff do into decisions, and knows when the evidence is strong enough to act on.
- Hands-on craft
- Still designs, prototypes, and critiques at a high level. Comfortable moving between strategy, interface detail, and physical prototypes in the same week.
