About This Staff Role:
HTS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, Marketing and Communications to join our team. The Senior Director, Marketing and Communications is the primary strategist of the school's brand identity and strategic narrative. Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement, this role ensures that the school's strategic vision is understood and experienced consistently, by the HTS community at large.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Marketing and Communications Thought Leadership
- Drive institutional pride by aligning the school's strategic goals with the lived experience of our community
- Champion the school's brand identity as a senior ambassador, building strong relationships across the internal and external community to uphold and enhance HTS's reputation and prestige
- Partner with Senior Leaders to research and identify target markets that support student enrolment, faculty recruitment, and fundraising, turning market insights into practical plans that drive engagement and satisfaction
- Design and execute a digital marketing strategic roadmap that positions HTS as an innovative leader in education
Communications
- Serve as the school's primary writer for strategic communications, ensuring all high-level copy, editorial content, and institutional messaging reflect clear messaging, exceptional quality and standard-setting tone across all platforms
- Strategise and oversee comprehensive multi-channel communication frameworks that align institutional goals with stakeholder interests, leveraging both traditional and digital media to drive engagement and maintain brand consistency across the school
- Develop and execute an intentional internal communications plan that keeps staff, students, alumni, and current parents informed, aligned, and connected to institutional priorities, building trust and a cohesive school culture
- Provide strategic communications counsel across departments, collaborating with school leaders to integrate departmental projects with the overarching mission and priorities of HTS
- Champion a unified storytelling strategy by integrating insights from departments across the school to truly represent our collective community; build a content structure that prioritises student voice and elevates the school's reputation across social and digital platforms
- In collaboration with the Head of School and Executive Director of Advancement, strategise crisis communications, managing sensitive issues with diplomacy and ensuring transparency, accuracy, and trust during critical moments
Public Relations & Media Relations
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with local media outlets, regional publications, and educational partners to share school achievements, programs and community stories
- Act as the primary media contact and spokesperson as required, managing external inquiries, press releases, and public statements to protect and enhance the school's reputation
- Support school leaders and staff in sharing their educational expertise through speaking opportunities, education forums, and guest contributions, highlighting HTS's innovative approach to teaching and learning
Digital Strategy & Marketing Operations
- Build and execute marketing strategies aligned with organisational strategy, working in direct partnership with the Head of School and Executive Director of Advancement
- Oversee the strategic roadmap, maintenance, and user experience of the school's website, integrating modern web technologies and data insights to ensure a clear, responsive, and engaging digital presence
- Oversee the production of core institutional publications, including Corridors, the Annual Review, and the Trinitarian, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and brand alignment
- Lead the marketing strategy for the Summer Program in close collaboration with the Camp Director, Summer School Principal and the Executive Director, Enrolment Management and Strategic Partnerships
- Manage external agency relationships and provide clear reporting on the outcome and value of marketing and communication efforts
Team Leadership & Event Engagement
- Lead and mentor the Marketing and Communications team, creating clear expectations, professional development opportunities, and performance standards that foster employee engagement and high-quality output
- Build authentic relationships by engaging with community members at HTS events, providing strategic and operational support for event logistics as required

Education:
- University degree in marketing, advertising, sales, or business administration, communications or journalism or equivalent
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience in strategic communications, driven by a passion for meaningfully engaging with the community to capture and share their stories
- The successful candidate will possess a sophisticated mastery of brand building and management, ensuring institutional consistency across all platforms. proven track record of designing and executing high-impact marketing programs-including digital, email, and direct marketing-that drive measurable engagement
- Deep expertise within the independent school sector is highly preferred, as the role requires a nuanced understanding of school culture and the ability to build authentic stakeholder relations
- A minimum of 7 years of people leadership experience
- A track record of leading teams through a diplomatic and collaborative approach, with demonstrated success in conflict resolution, consensus-building, and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics within a school or mission-driven organization
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, concurrent projects from concept through completion, with a proven ability to prioritize effectively, manage tight timelines, and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure
Technical Requirements:
- Proven proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) and web CMS platforms (like FInalsite) to oversee the production of high-quality visual and digital assets
- Demonstrated expertise in architecting and executing paid media campaigns across Meta, X (Twitter), and emerging social platforms to drive targeted institutional growth and brand awareness
- Advanced experience leveraging CRM systems and email marketing platforms (such as Hubspot) to develop sophisticated, data-driven communication workflows and direct marketing programs
- Expert-level fluency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Apple environments, with the ability to manage complex project workflows across diverse technical ecosystems
