Full Job Description
Ameresco is actively seeking a Senior Director, Business Development, to manage an existing seasoned sales team of Sales Managers and Account Executives to strategically drive sales of energy efficiency, renewable energy and advanced technology solutions across multiple market sectors. The territory will include the East Coast. Responsibilities: • Lead, drive, and manage the business development team to generate business and project opportunities, increase sales, provide on-time and cost-effective delivery of services, and ensure regional goals are attained. • Achieve annual sales goals for bookings, awards, and proposals. • Develop, formulate, and implement marketing and sales strategies to identify, target, qualify, and secure customers for all Ameresco solutions including; energy-as-a-service, energy efficiency, performance contract, turnkey construction, and renewable technology project opportunities. • Formulate marketing and business development forecasts, plans, and activities to increase company presence and customer base in defined markets and achieve regional objectives. • Manage several Sales Managers and Account Executives in the assigned geography to ensure accomplishment of sales goals. • Develop, manage, and execute individual and regional sales pipelines. • Participate as executive in key client engagement. • Oversee the successful development, organization, strategic positioning, preparation, and issuance of winning proposals and presentations. • Review project submittals for quality assurance, technical accuracy, competitiveness, and customer-oriented solutions. • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project proposals and contract terms. • Work with local engineering managers to effectively manage organizational and team resources to achieve regional business objectives. • Coordinate the development interface with project management and operations teams to assure customer satisfaction • Provide hands on leadership, planning, and management of procurement, contract administration, construction, and commissioning resources to assure total quality and project delivery on time and within budget while meeting or exceeding customer expectations. • Plan, budget, track, and effectively manage organizational and team resources to achieve regional business objectives. • Formulate successful strategies to increase project development and construction activities and ensure annual goals are attained • Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory safety standards and protocols • Cultivate positive and effective business relationships. • Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in sustainability, engineering, economics, finance, or business or advanced education (i.e., MS, MBA) preferred. • Minimum 12 years proven regional sales and business development leadership experience cultivating, securing, and implementing multi-million-dollar energy efficiency and renewable technology projects. • Travel required approximately 50% of the time. Additional Qualifications: • Superior financial planning, budgeting, and organizational resource management abilities. • Proven successful business development experience cultivating, developing, and securing customers and projects in Eastern US region. • Demonstrated sales track record, including executive business decision-maker contacts, C-level sales, advanced negotiation, deal structuring, and sales contract experience. • Proven ability to analyze and pre-qualify customer value. • Excellent verbal, written, technical, and computer communication and presentation skills required. • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships. • Advanced MS Office proficiency. Salesforce/CRM experience required. Knowledge of energy analysis software is desirable. • Valid Drivers' License in good standing, issued by state of residence. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $175,000 -$251,000 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role. Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
