Position Summary:Met Council seeks a creative, entrepreneurial, and experienced leader to serve as its first Senior Director of AI Implementation. This is a hands-on, department-facing role focused on turning AI strategy into practice: identifying high-value use cases, piloting and scaling AI tools department by department, and helping integrate AI and data workflows across the organization's core platforms and processes. The role builds on the technology team's existing infrastructure and innovative builds, supporting and extending that work rather than owning or re-architecting it.
The successful candidate will work hands-on with program and administrative departments across Met Council to assess workflows, identify where AI can meaningfully improve service delivery and operational efficiency, and manage AI pilots from concept through adoption. The Senior Director of AI Implementation will partner closely with the technology team, as well as external vendors, government agencies, community organizations, and financial institutions, to ensure that new AI and data integrations are usable, well-governed, and sustainable for Met Council's extensive network of clients and partners across New York City.
Principal Responsibilities:AI Implementation & Department Integration- Partner with department leaders across Met Council (programs, operations, finance, HR, and client-facing teams) to identify, prioritize, and implement AI use cases that improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Lead the end-to-end rollout of AI pilots-from scoping and vendor evaluation through training, adoption, and measurement-department by department.
- Help integrate new AI tools and data workflows into departmental systems and processes, working closely with the technology team to connect them to existing platforms (such as Salesforce and the data warehouse) rather than duplicating or re-architecting them.
- Serve as the primary liaison between department staff and the technology team, translating departmental needs into technical requirements and technical capabilities into department-ready solutions.
- Build internal capacity for AI adoption through training, documentation, and change-management support for department staff.
- Define project metrics and return-on-investment goals for AI implementation initiatives, track adoption and performance post-launch, and communicate results regularly with stakeholders.
AI & Data Governance- Recommend and help implement AI usage policies and guardrails for department-level AI projects, including PII protection, vendor Business Associate Agreement (BAA) compliance, and the secure and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
- Ensure department-level AI implementations align with Met Council's holistic approach to client service and its mission to move individuals from crisis to stability.
- Evaluate AI tools and vendor engagements for fit, risk, and compliance, supporting secure, compliant deployment in partnership with the technology team.
Collaboration & Partnerships- Coordinate AI implementation initiatives with external vendors, consultants, and solution providers, evaluating and recommending tools in partnership with Met Council departments and the technology team.
- Act as a thought partner to departments navigating AI adoption, fostering collaboration and surfacing shared opportunities across teams.
- Serve as a sounding board to the technology team on its innovative builds, providing a department-facing perspective on usability, adoption, and impact.
Technology & Innovation Support- Supporting the technology team's innovative builds by surfacing department needs, piloting new capabilities, and providing end-user feedback.
- Staying current on emerging AI tools and use cases relevant to nonprofit and social-services settings, and bringing forward recommendations for responsible adoption.
- Driving department-level digital transformation by identifying and implementing AI-enabled workflows that improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Promoting inclusivity and accessibility by ensuring AI-enabled tools and workflows are usable by individuals with disabilities and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Skills and Education:- 5+ years of experience leading technology, AI, or digital-transformation projects (required); 7+ years in a leadership role spanning multiple departments or functions preferred
- Demonstrated experience implementing AI tools or data workflows in partnership with non-technical teams-translating business needs into practical, adopted solutions
- Change-management and training experience, with a track record of driving adoption of new tools or processes across departments, and familiarity with data governance, PII protection, and BAAs
- Bachelor's degree (required); relevant advanced degree or technical certifications a plus
- Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying current with AI and technology advancements through workshops, conferences, online courses, and relevant certifications
Compensation: $135,000 to $155,000 per year.
Benefits: Major medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; pre-tax commuter benefits; FSA; 403(b) with employer contribution; plus generous vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
