An overview of this roleAs a Senior Developer Advocate at GitLab, you'll help technical audiences understand and use our intelligent orchestration platform where teams and their AI agents ship secure software faster. You'll go deep on the product, especially GitLab Duo Agent Platform and our newer capabilities, and continuously discover real-world workflows that teams care about. You'll turn that hands-on knowledge into demos, blog posts, videos, and presentations, and bring what you learn from customers and the developer community back to GitLab.
This role focuses on showing the product in action and building relationships with customers and the community. You'll help cover events and work across U.S. and Canadian time zones.
What you'll do- Deeply understand GitLab's platform, especially our AI agent capabilities, and continuously find productive, real-world use cases worth showing.
- Create product content, including videos, blog posts, presentations, and social clips that show key use cases for GitLab in the user interface and terminal.
- Produce video content end to end: script, record, and edit product walkthroughs and demos, and collaborate with GitLab's video team on longer or higher-production pieces.
- Deliver product demos and participate in analyst briefings.
- Engage with customers through webinars, customer meetings, and other conversations.
- Participate in the developer community by engaging on the GitLab forum and Discord, following the conversations happening on social platforms, in newsletters, and at events, and making sure GitLab has a voice in the ones that matter.
- Answer technical questions that come through the sales team, and partner with support, sales, and product on developer-facing educational content.
- Use hands-on product experience to share feedback with product teams and test new features.
- Contribute to technical research and analysis of the developer tools landscape.
- Travel requirement up to 20% for events and customer meetings.
What you'll bring- Hands-on technical experience. You understand how software gets built, with a focus on everything that happens after code is written, and can talk about it credibly with engineers.
- Understanding of artificial intelligence and its use in software development, from coding all the way to production. You have built and operated agentic systems and infrastructure.
- The ability to explain technical products clearly. You can demo a product, record a walkthrough, or speak at a conference without it feeling forced.
- Fluency in developer social platforms. You know what's interesting to the people we're trying to reach and can participate in the conversation with credibility.
- Curiosity and self-direction. You're already finding the next thing worth talking about, following the right people, and noticing opportunities.
- Experience engaging with customers, developers, or technical communities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across sales, engineering, product, and other teams.
About the teamThe Developer Advocacy team creates content that shows GitLab in use, engages with customers and the developer community, and brings hands-on product feedback to GitLab teams. The team also contributes technical research and analysis, while partnering with other groups to share its findings.
The base salary range for this role's listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. The base salary range does not include any bonuses, equity, or benefits. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
