Full Job Description
Senior Design Manager for our Phoenix, AZ Division to work on a Multi-Billion Dollar Semiconductor Project. We set the standard for commercial construction and we're looking for talented construction professionals to join us.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the design services
  • Administration of the designer's agreement to include review or invoices and design change order negotiations
  • Management of the design budget as contracted along with any required change orders
  • Ensure design packages meet the trade bid requirements by understanding project schedule, procurement strategy and phasing
  • Oversee delivery of the contractual deliverable milestones by ensuring each milestone meets the intent of the design submissions in accordance with project agreement and established standards
  • Collaborate with Builder and Designer to minimize RFI's, ASI's and Change Orders
  • Drive timely responses to Owner design review comments
  • Review and coordinate responses to constructability issues from document reviews by the Build team
  • Supports Project Management and Field Staff teams in evaluating project schedules, compliance with federal, state and municipal laws and ordinances, and cost impacts due to scope change or incompleteness
  • Facilitate construction submittal and RFI reviews
  • Establish and facilitate the adherence to an established work breakdown structure (WBS) to include the definition of potential multiple design/bid package scoping scenarios, deliverable milestones, Owner reviews and City entitlement timelines that are responsive to the project's scheduling activities and procurement requirements
  • Identify optimized solutions with consideration of cost, quality, constructability, supply chain support and overall customer value
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to address project challenges and achieve project goals
  • Oversee design deliverables to ensure compliance with contract obligations including criteria, schedule and budget and their integration with the construction requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of diverse commercial design and construction program experience with notable participation within an alternative delivery design environment (Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMaR).
  • A bachelors or masters degree in architecture or an engineering discipline is preferred
  • General understanding of traditional and alternative project delivery types: Design/Build, Construction Manager at Risk, Design-Bid-Build, IPD, Lean, etc.
  • Ability to understand and communicate project deliverable requirements as defined by contracts, owner criteria, schedules, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • General understanding of the nature of design firm business operations and production process.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement in design management processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and implementing best practices.
  • Functional experience with pre-construction and construction processes.
  • Understands BIM software platforms, process, and workflow, and the specific needs of team members.
  • Familiarity with building codes, ADA, and requirements for municipal engagement and entitlement processes. (Competency in sustainability ((LEED)) is a plus.)
  • Proven client facing experience where timely decision-making and solutions are required.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Familiarity with DBIA (Design Build Institute of America) principles and processes with a willingness to obtain DBIA accreditation is encouraged.
