We are seeking an experienced
Senior Cyber Security Engineer (CSE3) to support a large support services contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command.
Position Description: You will provide support to the Program and Deputy Program Manager of a 200 person contractor team that includes subcontractor personnel.
Work location and telework: The government work location is the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Contractors will be required to work at the Navy Yard and in nearby office locations up to 5 days a week. Teleworking may be possible with the customers' approval, but will need to evolve as the work relationships evolve.
Responsibilities and Duties:A cybersecurity engineer protects an organization's digital assets, networks, and systems from cyberattacks, breaches, and unauthorized access. They design and implement security infrastructure-such as firewalls and encryption-monitor for threats, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to security incidents. This role combines IT expertise with proactive, defensive security strategies.
They implement and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policy, including Assessment and Authorization requirements. They may also perform the following duties:
• Plan, implement, upgrade, and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber-resilient network
• Assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies
• Ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure
• Respond to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:• Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
• Certification requirements: None
• Education and experience: There are three different ways to be qualified for this position:
1. A high school degree, or a GED, and ten (10) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser cybersecurity, information assurance, or Risk Management Framework (RMF) experience.
2. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser cybersecurity, information assurance, or Risk Management Framework (RMF) experience, OR
3. A master's degree in a relevant field and three (3) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser cybersecurity, information assurance, or Risk Management Framework (RMF) experience.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:• ActiveSecret Clearance
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Experience:
o Demonstrated knowledge of Navy/DOD policy and guidance
o Demonstrated knowledge of Cyber Security Testing methods and processes
o Cyber defense policy, processes and assessments
o Information assurance
o Risk Management Framework (RMF)
Travel Requirements:• Travel should be infrequent but include occasional naval-centric trips to support government efforts at East and West Coast naval centric areas like Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this role is:
125,000 - 150,000 USD per year (DC Office)
