Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsel, Employment & Litigation to join our Global Legal team. This role will serve as the primary legal advisor on employment law and litigation matters across the globe with Human Resources, business leaders, and the broader Legal team.

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Legal – North America, this attorney will provide strategic and practical legal guidance on a wide range of employment-related matters, oversee litigation and dispute management, and help the organization proactively identify and mitigate legal risk.

The ideal candidate combines strong employment law expertise with significant litigation management experience and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative SaaS environment. Applicant will lead and support employment matters, litigation oversight, policy development, investigations, and business counseling responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Employment Law & HR Partnership

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel to Human Resources and business leaders on employment-related matters.
  • Advise on employee relations issues, performance management, disciplinary actions, accommodations, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, and terminations.
  • Support the development, implementation, and interpretation of employment policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Advise on restrictive covenant, confidentiality, severance, and independent contractor matters.
  • Partner with HR on organizational changes, workforce planning initiatives, and employment-related compliance requirements.
  • Deliver practical, risk-based legal advice that balances legal compliance with business objectives. Employment counseling and policy-related responsibilities are key aspects of comparable internal legal roles.

Litigation Management

  • Manage the Company's litigation portfolio, including employment claims, commercial disputes, and other legal proceedings.
  • Direct and coordinate outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop litigation strategy and provide recommendations to business and legal leadership.
  • Oversee dispute resolution efforts, settlement negotiations, mediation, and arbitration matters.
  • Conduct legal analysis and assess potential exposure associated with claims and disputes.
  • Maintain regular reporting and communications regarding material litigation matters. Litigation oversight and management of external counsel are core responsibilities associated with similar legal department positions.

Internal Investigations & Risk Management

  • Support internal investigations involving employment, ethics, compliance, and workplace matters.
  • Assess legal risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Advise leadership on emerging legal developments and employment-related regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Human Resources, Privacy, and Security teams on risk management initiatives.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and business stakeholders.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements and legal documentation.
  • Develop and deliver employment law training to managers and employees.
  • Partner with the broader Legal team on strategic initiatives and other projects as needed.
  • Promote a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to legal support.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • 7+ years of employment law and litigation experience, preferably including substantial in-house experience.
  • Significant experience advising on:
    • Employee relations matters
    • Workplace investigations
    • Employment policies and procedures
    • Accommodation and leave issues
    • Restrictive covenant and severance matters
    • Litigation and dispute management
  • Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and provide practical business-focused legal advice.


Preferred

  • Experience in a SaaS, software, or technology company.
  • Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional employment law matters.
  • Deep knowledge of global employment law, including experience with international employment regulations.
  • Experience handling employment litigation before administrative agencies and courts.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and organizational integrations.
