Full Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to direct activities of product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation. The position provides recommendations to senior leadership in support of the achievement of Company goals.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform month end close activities (inventory reconciliations, tracking, variance analysis, etc)
  • Prepare actual vs. budget analysis. Prepare various financial analysis related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and expense information.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Analyzes actual production costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Responsible for maintaining standard costs for materials and labor
  • Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Prepares estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
  • Recommends cost efficiencies in new product layouts.
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
  • Lead and manage the excess and obsolete inventory review process.
  • Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control, production and work order processing.
  • Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
  • Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc.
  • Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
  • Other ad hoc reporting


Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent, Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience in cost accounting, general accounting, and manufacturing operations.
  • 3+ years of operational experience, especially with inventory
  • Solid foundational knowledge of GAAP


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Hands-on ERP experience. SAP S/4HANA preferred.
  • Advanced Excel. Power BI or a comparable reporting tool preferred;
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data, and to explain the result to people who are not accountants;
  • Ability to manage several assignments at once and hold the close calendar in a fast-moving environment;
  • "Roll up your sleeves" type personality - High ownership and accountability, with the ability to execute with minimal oversight;
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and the confidence to challenge a number that looks wrong;
