The OpportunityBlack & Veatch is expanding its capabilities in advanced controls engineering, SCADA integration, grid automation, and energy management systems. This role will support the design and execution of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) projects involving complex control systems, power generation assets, microgrids, energy management systems, and data center infrastructure.
The Senior Controls & SCADA Engineer will develop, integrate, test, and commission control solutions while helping establish the technical standards and execution methods used on future projects.
This position provides the opportunity to collaborate with and provide technical leadership alongside specialists in controls engineering, power systems, microgrids, SCADA integration, and system modeling while serving as a senior technical contributor on complex multidisciplinary projects. #LI-TF1
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, program, test, and commission industrial control and SCADA systems.
- Develop HMI applications, operator interfaces, alarming, trending, and visualization solutions.
- Configure and troubleshoot PID loops, sequencing logic, permissives, interlocks, and advanced control strategies.
- Integrate control systems with turbines, generators, reciprocating engines, inverters, plant equipment, EMS platforms, and SCADA/data acquisition systems.
- Develop and execute controls simulation, factory testing, and validation strategies prior to field deployment.
- Coordinate controls engineering activities with Engineering Managers, Project Discipline Engineers, equipment suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
- Perform and participate in independent design reviews and quality assurance activities for FOAK projects.
- Develop reusable controls architectures, programming standards, execution templates, and engineering practices for future projects.
