Full Job Description
We currently have an opening for a Senior Controls Engineer in our Troy, Ohio Plant. This position is 100% on-site. There is no relocation assistance for this position. Summary: Purpose: Controls Expert and Electrical Power experience. Designs, specifies, project manages, and provides plant level support for electrical controls on capital equipment. Leads Clopay in setting standards and insuring performance for electrical controls systems. Responsibilities/Principal Duties: Responsible for managing capital equipment projects from conception to completion including: Define project scope, budget and objectives. Develop detailed timing plans with functional milestones to support project objectives; execute plan within established timing. Manage Project from startup to completion, for new capital equipment. Project management and tracking for content/schedule/budget/plant safety. Writing of justifications and proposals. Develop specification of capital equipment. Develop Specification for shop floor data used to drive capital equipment. Writing purchase contracts for capital equipment. Manage vendors and contractors. Provide project updates regularly to stakeholders. Reviewing/providing feedback/approving equipment drawings. Finalize all as built drawings and documentation. Research and analyze best practices in manufacturing concepts and trends for applicability; stay abreast of latest manufacturing technology and leverage technology Research and develop plant improvements projects, safety, machine efficiency, modernization, increase capacity, etc.. Interfacing with plant personnel. Start-up new equipment, including debug. Concept and develop solutions for labor and cost reduction as well as quality improvement. Develop and lead machine control systems. Develop and modify Visual Studio.Net and Python applications. Work directly with equipment vendors in the creation of systems and programming. Integration of separate pieces of equipment constituting a manufacturing process or line. Provide plant level support for equipment. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Because this position is considered a "Senior Level", experience in the following areas is required: Experience managing capital projects from start to finish Experience concepting, laying out, and capital equipment design for capital projects including BOM's, layout drawings, and detail drawings Experience in project management and process equipment design for projects ranging in magnitude to multi-millions of dollars Experience in organizing and leading matrix teams to complete successful projects on time and within budget constraints Ability to troubleshoot problems with capital equipment and implement solutions Experience with Facility Utilities. Experience with Visual Studio.Net and Python applications Experience with Power distribution/Arc Flash Studies Experience with Allen Bradley Control Systems Experience with AutoCAD Understand NFPA, OSHA, ANSI and NEC codes Education: BSEE Experience: At least 8 years engineering experience in project management and hands on plant equipment support. Physical Requirements: Regularly travels to equipment vendors and manufacturing plants. (Up to 20%) Regularly spends long hours setting up and debugging equipment, often requiring loading and unloading mechanical equipment. (up to 50 pounds)
