About This RoleALC in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a
Senior Controls Designer. This is an opportunity for an experienced building automation professional to lead the technical design and programming of advanced HVAC control solutions. The Senior Controls Designer creates clear, reliable, and standards-compliant system designs while supporting project teams through documentation, interface development, testing, and technical guidance. The ideal candidate combines deep BAS knowledge with strong communication skills and the ability to turn complex technical requirements into practical, customer-focused solutions
Job Responsibilities- Design and program increasingly advanced building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control system, and control algorithms.
- Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.
- Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.
- Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.
- Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
- Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.
- Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers' needs are met.
- Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
- Support of functional testing for complex building systems.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of design experience in HVAC controls or Building Automation, OR College Diploma, technical certificate or completed trade school with 6+ years of design experience in HVAC controls or Building Automation, OR High School Diploma with 8+ years of design experience in HVAC controls or Building Automation.
Preferred Qualifications (assets)Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Advanced degree in an Engineering or Construction discipline.
- Proficiency with building automation system software and associated engineering tools, including strong working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.
- Proficient with third-party communication protocols used in building automation, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.
- Understanding of enterprise IP networks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio or similar diagramming software.
- Proficient with written sequences of operations, diagrammatic depictions of systems.
- Able to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs
- French language proficiency is considered a strong asset.
Additional information- Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada without restriction; visa sponsorship is not available.
Pay RangeThe expected base salary range for this role is between $89,500.00 CAD - $139,500.00 CAD annually. The rate of pay may be impacted by factors such as the applicant's geographic location, market data/range, skills, prior relevant experience, job-related knowledge, specific degrees and certifications, and/or other relevant considerations.This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, as well as possible retirement contributions. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the province in which the applicant is to be employed.
Other CompensationThis role may also provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may include company performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.
