Full Job Description
This role may be based in New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, or the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our Built Environment & Infrastructure (BE&I) Consulting and Security Design team members are required to deliver early-stage risk-based security strategies and planning that inform the broader concept and master planning stages. This informs the work delivered in later coordinated design and technical design stages.

The successful applicant will be part of our US-based Americas team, supporting clients in the Americas and across the region as part of our broader team of over 100 crisis and security consultants.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • The role includes undertaking fee-earning consultancy across a wide range of activities, including risk assessment, the definition of security strategies and high-level planning, concept and detailed master planning, and concept and detailed technical design. It also includes developing performance specifications and design guidance notes. Assisting, and designing for our engagements, including technical security reviews, audits, design surveys, installation inspections and approvals, working at client sites and in the office.
  • The successful candidate will assist with, and design for, engagements such as technical security reviews, audits, design surveys, installation inspections, and approvals, both at client sites and in the office.
  • The position requires designing physical and electronic security systems to an appropriate level in conjunction with specialist engineers from other organizations within project design teams. Support adoption of innovative approaches to development of current practices and new solutions.
  • As a trusted advisor, the individual will ensure that requests from clients and prospects are handled effectively to strengthen client relationships across the full breadth of capabilities.
  • Responsibilities also include creating proposals and building project budgets to define scope and determine pricing prior to sign-off by designated managers, while maintaining accurate financial forecasting, project planning, resource planning, and financial reporting.
  • In addition, the role carries operational planning and management responsibility for engagements, including quality oversight of operational and document-based deliverables and compliance with Control Risks policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • The successful candidate will also contribute collaboratively to the performance management of team members and adopt innovative approaches to advancing current practices and developing new solutions, acting as a thought leader and coordinating with peer groups across the business.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience and bring strong knowledge and understanding of CPTED principles and other global leading initiatives, including Secured by Design and recognized public and private sector safety and security planning guidance such as UFC, ISO31000, and NIST.
  • They will also have experience delivering physical and electronic security design consulting across the AIA model stages and a proven ability to operate successfully at a senior level by implementing policy, driving quality, and growing a business.
  • In addition, the role requires proven experience in delivering consultancy-based engagements, managing people effectively, and overseeing successful budgeting, project management, and project closure.


Qualifications and specialist skills
  • The successful candidate should hold membership in a security or design engineering-related institute and demonstrate excellent writing and presentation skills, including a proven ability to participate in speaking engagements.
  • They must be able to liaise with clients effectively and build successful relationships, while also being capable of quickly assimilating large quantities of new information. Ability to liaise with and build successful client relationships.
  • A bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in risk management, design, or related security, crisis, and/or business continuity fields or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience is required, along with a relevant security-related professional certification. Knowledge of and experience using design-related software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, MS Project, Bluebeam, and other relevant platforms is also expected.
  • Travel up to 50% may be necessary for this role. Valid Driver's License and Passport is required.

The base salary range for this position is $115,000-$130,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
