About this role:
This business aligned role provides independent compliance oversight and advisory support to the Credit Card business. The Senior Compliance Specialist will partner with business, risk, legal, and control teams to identify and manage compliance risk across product development, originations, rewards, pricing, and other strategic initiatives.
The Credit Card business offers a broad range of consumer and business products and services, including cash back rewards, travel rewards, balance transfer products, and digital payment capabilities. The role provides risk-based guidance, effective challenge, and ongoing oversight to help ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies while enabling responsible business growth.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a trusted compliance advisor to the Credit Card business by researching and analyzing regulatory requirements, providing risk-based guidance, and translating complex compliance obligations into actionable business solutions.
- Provide independent compliance oversight and advisory support across the credit card lifecycle, including product development, originations, rewards, pricing, marketing, customer communications, and strategic business initiatives.
- Research, analyze, and assess the applicability of laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and company policies to business activities, and provide practical recommendations that balance compliance risk with business objectives.
- Monitor and analyze new and evolving regulatory requirements, enforcement actions, industry developments, and emerging risks to assess impacts and recommend appropriate business actions.
- Partner with business, risk, legal, and control teams to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks and integrate compliance considerations into business strategies and decision-making.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and provide recommendations to address identified risks, control gaps, emerging risks, and regulatory expectations.
- Provide effective challenge and oversight for new products, product modifications, operational changes, customer-facing experiences, and strategic initiatives to help ensure regulatory requirements and customer considerations are appropriately addressed.
- Support regulatory change management activities by assessing business impacts, identifying compliance requirements, and overseeing implementation of required changes.
- Provide compliance oversight and credible challenge throughout the issue management lifecycle, including issue identification, root cause analysis, remediation planning, corrective actions, and closure validation.
- Provide compliance advisory support for third-party relationships by assessing regulatory risks and evaluating compliance controls related to outsourced activities, vendors, and service providers.
- Partner with internal testing, audit, regulatory examination, and risk management teams to assess compliance risks, review findings, and support effective remediation of identified issues.
- Support the ongoing enhancement of the Wells Fargo Compliance Program through participation in governance forums, policy and procedure reviews, risk assessments, reporting, and compliance initiatives.
- Prepare and present clear, concise, and actionable compliance guidance, risk assessments, and reporting to business partners and senior leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of Consumer Credit Card products and/or industry knowledge related to credit card lending.
- Experience interpreting and applying state, federal, and agency legal and regulatory compliance requirements specific to Consumer lending including but not limited to Regulation Z, Regulation B, Fair Credit Reporting Act, CAN SPAM, UDAAP, SCRA, MLA, and Fair Lending.
- Experience in risk management and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge and understanding of lending policies, regulations, and compliance.
- Active Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation.
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring a risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements or providing oversight to a compliance function.
- Ability to review and monitor issues and corrective actions relating to regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining strong working relationships and coordinating with stakeholders to achieve goals

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$87,000.00 - $154,000.00
