Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Combat Systems Specialist.

Located on-site in Washington, DC (WNY).

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

Support PEO IWS - 80 Ship Integration Platform Manager (SIPM)
  • Assist in management of the plan for PEO IWS hardware and software installations in Aircraft Carriers.
  • Identify modernization work packages and work with each Program Office and field activities to develop maturity products. Assess Type Commander and Fleet Commander risks.
  • Develop and process Ship Change Documents (SCD), confirm proper installation drawings, logistics, and documentation.
  • Develop and manage the Navy Modernization Plan (NMP) Milestones for Aircraft Carriers and the planning Timelines for system integration.
  • Assist SIPM in the execution of the Modernization Plan and ensuring C5I Master Plan requirements are met.
  • Represent/support IWS-80 at various Fleet forums to include Modernization Readiness Assessments, Naval C5I Modernization Conferences, Planning Yard Program Reviews, IWS Carrier Summits and any meetings or conferences which PEO IWS-80 may attend.
  • Provide configuration control of the entire SSDS Combat Systems suite on In-Service Aircraft Carriers. Also includes the SPS radar family and SPQ-9B radars, common tactical picture, CEC, associated weapon systems (RAM, NSSMS and CIWS) and various navigation systems.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) in Engineering, Physical Science, Business or Management.
  • Must have ten (10) years' experience serving aboard a surface combatant vessel utilizing the IWS-80 sponsored systems.
  • Experience onboard Aircraft Carriers. Knowledgeable and experienced in the Navy Modernization Process-Maintenance Operations Manual (NMP-MOM).

Skills and Abilities:
  • Must understand the Navy Modernization Plan. Develop and present decision papers and presentation briefs as requested by the SIPM.
  • Will be required to visit Aircraft Carriers and spaces where program systems are installed.
  • Will attend Fleet conferences, Modernization Conferences and summits located within CONUS.
