Senior Civil Engineer Project Manager - Public Works

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng IV) with ten + years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our Ontario office. This role will work in our Public Work Practice Area. This position will provide leadership, guide business development and project management within the Inland Empire area (and beyond as needed).

Duties:
  • Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates.
  • Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters.
  • Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration.
  • Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects.
  • Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting.
  • Will work on all types of projects, but the focus will be on public works infrastructure projects. This will include design development from concept design phase through completion of construction documents.
  • The public works infrastructure projects will include, but is not limited to, street, storm drain, sewer, water improvements, drainage analysis, sewer capacity analysis, water system hydraulic analysis, and report writing. The individual will be coordinating with other disciplines within HZI as well as sub-consultants throughout the planning and design phase.
  • The individual will also be coordinating with and providing direction to engineers-in-training, CADD technicians, and project support staff to prepare the project documents (drawings and technical specifications) for permitting and bidding.
  • The individual will provide construction administration support for such activities as contractor submittal reviews, contractor requests for information, review of contractor monthly invoices and provide recommendations for invoice approvals, participation in construction progress meetings, occasional site visits as necessary.
  • The individual will also provide support for the development of scopes of work, labor hour estimates, and project scheduling for new projects. On occasion as directed, individual will communicate directly with clients.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Registered Professional Engineer in California.
  • 10+ years of civil engineering design experience in Public Works.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and Word software.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to present in a meeting.
  • Ability to design printed and digital engineering documents.
  • Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas.

Project Manager (PM) Role Annual Performance Goals & Expectations:

Annual Base Salary Range: $129,000-$148,000 and up depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s). The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Washington Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on the success candidate's individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and consideration to participate in our discretionary annual bonus incentive program.
