Full Job Description
We9re looking for a Senior Cell Development Engineer to join our growing team in Bedford, Massachusetts and help turn ambitious battery concepts into real-world technology.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail - designing experiments, working with materials and cells, analysing data and figuring out why something works (or doesn9t). You9ll work closely with scientists, engineers and technicians to develop our next generation of high-charge-rate battery technologies and assess how they can perform across an expanding range of applications.

What you9ll be doing

You9ll be a key contributor to our cell development activities, helping us move from promising ideas to measurable improvements in cell performance.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Playing an active role in day-to-day cell development programmes, working alongside engineers, scientists and technicians.
  • Contributing to cell technology development, problem solving and optimisation, particularly for emerging and new applications.
  • Designing and executing Design of Experiments (DOEs) to support cell improvement and new cell design objectives.
  • Supporting new materials screening and cell design activities.
  • Assessing technology options against the requirements of different applications and helping identify the most promising development pathways.
  • Processing, analysing and interpreting experimental data to identify trends, opportunities and problems.
  • Generating clear technical reports and recommendations for cell builds and application-based testing.
  • Working with the Director, Cell Technology and wider technical team to translate experimental results into actionable next steps.
  • Collaborating across engineering, science and laboratory teams to deliver programme requirements and project deadlines.
  • Identifying and escalating abnormalities relating to cells, materials, equipment and processes.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring the lab is operationally ready, safe, clean and organised.

What we9re looking for

You9re a hands-on battery engineer who likes being close to the technology. You9re comfortable moving between experimental work, data analysis and engineering problem solving and you9re not afraid to get your hands dirty in the lab.

You9ll ideally have:
  • MS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, plus 3-5 years9 battery industry experience; or
  • PhD in a relevant discipline, plus 2+ years9 battery industry experience.
  • Strong practical experience in battery cell development and testing.
  • A genuine passion for engineering better battery technology and pushing the boundaries of cell performance.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset and the curiosity to understand what the data is really telling you.
  • An appetite for working hands-on with batteries, battery materials and electro-chemical testing equipment.

Nice to have

It9s even better if you bring experience in some of the following:
  • Leading or mentoring a small team of engineers and/or technicians.
  • Translating battery technology options into application requirements.
  • Working in a glovebox.
  • Working in a dry room.
  • Battery testing systems and associated electronics.
  • JMP or other statistical/data analysis software.

What you9ll get

We believe great technology comes from great people - and great people deserve great benefits.

At Nyobolt, you9ll have access to:

  • Competitive salary.
  • 5% company contribution to your 401(k).
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits including health, dental, vision, life and disability - with 100% of premiums covered.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA).
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
  • Paid Time Off and sick leave.
  • Regular social events, team activities and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the wins.
