Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group company, is hiring a Senior Buyer in the Purchasing Department at our Marinette, WI location.
Position Summary
The Senior Buyer is responsible for contributing to the competitive status and profitable operation of the company through creative sourcing and procuring of materials and services in a timely manner and at an optimum value. This role will act as the primary contact between suppliers and internal customers; managing supplier performance, flow of material to yard, request for quotes, purchase order placement, expedite deliveries and correct receipt discrepancies; promptly communicating any material shortages, late deliveries or non-conformances; spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule; and understanding and maintaining the ERP system to provide accurate information to all departments.
Domestic travel may be required.
Essential Functions
o Develop, implement and participate in economical procurement methods, value analysis programs, etc.
o Create purchase orders to meet in yard dates, manage supplier performance, and enter and maintain pricing, supplier database, orders in the ERP system
o Communicate with Engineering, Production, Finance, Warehousing and Purchasing on material specifications, expediting, invoice reconciliations, receiving/inventory discrepancies, RFQ's, supplier performance and receiving discrepancies
o Execute and expedite the procurement of goods and services, developing cost savings plans and administering progress payment process
o Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
o Knowledge of cost and pricing analysis and negotiations
o Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices
o Knowledge of SAP-MRP/ERP, Earned Value Management, and ISO
o Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
o Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
o Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
o Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness
Education and Experience
o Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
o 6 Years of experience required
o Experience as a Buyer for a shipyard, production, or manufacturing environment preferred
