Full Job Description
NOVA Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Building Envelope Consultant with Design Experience to support our growing Central Florida operations. This role is well suited for a seasoned professional based in the Orlando, FL or Tampa, FL metro areas who excels in a consulting environment, brings strong technical and design expertise, and is passionate about building science and high-performance enclosure systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and perform peer reviews of architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals with a primary focus on building envelope systems.
  • Develop and design remedial and retrofit solutions for roofing and building enclosure systems for existing facilities.
  • Provide building envelope design support for new construction and renovation projects, including details, specifications, and performance-based recommendations.
  • Conduct visual surveys, moisture assessments, pre-design evaluations, and property condition assessments.
  • Lead and manage forensic investigations related to building enclosure and roofing failures, water intrusion, and performance deficiencies.
  • Perform and oversee field testing of roofing, waterproofing, window, curtainwall, and façade systems in accordance with ASTM, AAMA, TAS, and ANSI standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance and construction-phase services to verify compliance with design intent, construction documents, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, design narratives, repair documents, and construction details that clearly communicate findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Manage projects, mentor junior staff, and provide technical leadership for building envelope, roofing, and facilities-related assignments.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in building envelope and roofing consulting, including hands-on design and remedial work.
  • Professional licensure as an Engineer or Architect preferred, but not required.
  • Strong background in building enclosure design, detailing, and constructability reviews.
  • Highly desirable certifications include: Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO), Certified Infrared Thermographer (CIT)
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues related to constructability, system integration, durability, thermal performance, air and water control, and long-term maintenance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, well-organized technical and design documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform work in outdoor temperature extremes.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight, both in-state and out-of-state.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access rooftops.
  • Ability and/or willingness to obtain certification to operate mechanical boom lifts.
