Qrypt is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own the services behind our quantum security products. You will lead the design and development of backend software - primarily in Rust - that moves quantum entropy and keys, powers our entropy-as-a-service platform, and makes our appliances work reliably and securely at scale. You will use AI-assisted development tooling as a core part of how you work, own the correctness and quality of what ships, and help set how the team engineers in an AI-native way. What you'll do • Lead the design, development, and testing of backend services and APIs, primarily in Rust, with some C++ and Python. • Own significant parts of the backend end to end: architecture, implementation, reliability, and performance. • Make and document design tradeoffs; raise the bar on code quality, testing, and review across the team. • Work close to the metal on the software that delivers quantum entropy and keys reliably and securely. • Use AI-assisted and agentic development tooling to accelerate your work while owning the correctness and quality of everything you ship. • Help shape how the team adopts AI-assisted development (instruction conventions, review standards) as the tooling matures. • Develop deep domain understanding (quantum random number generation, cryptography, network security) to architect and validate our products. • Mentor other engineers and collaborate across hardware, product, and engineering to ship end-to-end. What you'll need • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, and/or relevant work experience. • 6+ years building and shipping backend software, including ownership of services end to end. • Expertise in Rust, or deep systems-programming experience (C, C++, Go) with a demonstrated ability to work primarily in Rust at a senior level. • Working proficiency with C++ and Python. • Strong command of backend architecture: APIs, services, concurrency, reliability, performance, and Linux. • Fluency with AI and agent-assisted development, and the judgment to apply it where it adds real leverage - reviewing, correcting, and taking full ownership of AI-generated work. This is core to how we operate at Qrypt and is expected of everyone here. • A track record of technical leadership: design decisions, mentoring, and raising engineering standards. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
