Full Job Description

Your Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate Restructuring group. This is a new role and a unique opportunity for someone who wants to build a meaningful career in financial advisory—where you’ll be on the front lines of helping companies and creditors manage through disruption and change.

Our team works with creditors in recovering their debts through receiverships and bankruptcies, acting as court-appointed officers to preserve and maximize value. We also assist distressed businesses to stabilize operations, assess strategic alternatives, improve liquidity, develop turnaround plans, and lead financial restructurings—both formal and informal.

Some days, that might mean building a cash flow model or preparing a strategic recovery plan. Other days, you're managing the sale of a business, preparing Court reports, or working alongside management teams, lenders and legal counsel to solve complex financial challenges. In restructuring, no two engagements are quite the same.

This is a hands-on, dynamic role suited for someone who thrives under pressure, communicates clearly, and genuinely enjoys problem solving. It’s challenging—but also incredibly rewarding. This is a new role, and you’ll be part of a high-performing team that celebrates contributions and fosters professional growth, while gaining broad exposure across restructuring and turnaround engagements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Analyzing financial data, accounting records, and financial models
  • Assessing business plans, forecasts, and financial positions of distressed companies
  • Preparing financial projection models, including 13-week cash flow forecasts, and scenario analyses
  • Supporting turnaround and restructuring strategies, including liquidity management, operational stabilization and recovery planning
  • Supporting the execution of formal restructuring mandates including Receiverships, Proposals, and Bankruptcies
  • Preparing formal reports to stakeholders, creditors, and the Courts
  • Working directly with management teams, lenders, creditors, legal counsel and other professional advisors throughout engagements
  • Taking ownership of key workstreams and deliverables while managing multiple engagements and timelines concurrently
  • Managing sales processes for the disposition of distressed assets and businesses
  • Participating in practice development and business networking initiatives

How do we define success for your role?

  • You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect and Collaboration
  • You understand your client’s industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high-quality work
  • You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients
  • You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains & attracts talent
  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace
  • You grow your expertise through learning and professional development

Your Experience and Education

  • 2–3 years of experience in a professional accounting services firm (Audit experience is an asset)
  • CPA designation obtained or in progress
  • Experience in corporate restructuring, insolvency, or turnaround is a strong asset—but not required. We’ll train the right candidate.
  • Interest in pursuing the Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) designation and developing a long-term career in restructuring
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to tackling complex issues
  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours and travel to client locations as needed

The compensation range for this position is $72,000 to $110,000 annually.
