Job Summary
The Senior Application Analyst (SAA) will support and expand oncology research initiatives with a focus on Epic Beacon and Willow. The role combines pharmacy and oncology expertise with Epic application build experience to support the end-to-end development, testing, validation, and maintenance of research medication and protocol builds. The SAA will work closely with oncology clinical teams, research stakeholders, pharmacists, and IT partners to translate study requirements into safe, accurate, and operationally appropriate Epic solutions. The role will also provide quality assurance for research builds completed by other analysts and support established processes for validation, testing, documentation, and change control. This is a 100% remote position requiring independent work, effective communication, and collaboration across clinical, research, pharmacy, and IT functions.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary application analyst supporting the Oncology Research initiative within Epic Beacon and Willow.
• Coordinate and manage research-related build activities from initial requirements through validation, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.
• Attend recurring oncology research meetings, huddles, and project discussions and provide clear, accurate status updates.
• Maintain and manage the oncology research build tracker, including project status, milestones, dependencies, outstanding issues, and action items.
• Partner with clinical research, oncology, pharmacy, and IT stakeholders to understand study requirements and translate them into appropriate Epic solutions.
• Design, build, test, and maintain research medications and oncology treatment protocols in Epic Beacon and Willow.
• Translate clinical and research requirements into functional Epic application specifications and configuration.
• Ensure research builds appropriately reflect study-specific requirements while remaining consistent with established workflows, standards, and system design.
• Apply appropriate clinical and operational judgment when evaluating build requests and determining the optimal Epic solution.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of Beacon research builds completed by other analysts.
• Validate research protocol and medication builds for accuracy, consistency, clinical appropriateness, and adherence to established build standards.
• Develop comprehensive test plans and test scenarios based on clinical, operational, and research requirements.
• Document testing results, identify defects or discrepancies, and coordinate appropriate resolution.
• Participate in formal validation and change control processes in accordance with established standards.
• Participate in application team meetings, project meetings, status reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
• Interpret end-user requirements and determine appropriate solutions while identifying potential downstream impacts or workflow concerns.
• Provide timely, effective, and professional customer support.
• Escalate issues appropriately and collaborate with other application teams, vendors, clinical stakeholders, and technical resources when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and current documentation for application build, testing, validation, workflows, and research protocols.
• Work independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining strong communication, accountability, and follow-through.
Required Qualifications
• Epic certification in Beacon and Willow.
• Strong clinical pharmacy background.
• Strong Epic application build experience.
• Experience supporting the development, testing, validation, and maintenance of research medication and protocol builds.
• Experience translating clinical and research requirements into Epic application specifications and configuration.
• Experience with quality assurance, validation, and testing of Epic builds.
• Ability to develop test plans and test scenarios based on clinical, operational, and research requirements.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fully remote environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across clinical, research, pharmacy, and IT functions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience supporting oncology clinical trials.
• Experience with research protocols or investigational medications.
• Experience supporting oncology pharmacy workflows.
• Experience working with oncology clinical teams and research stakeholders.
