Responsibilities and Impact
Impact
As a Senior Analyst, you will serve as the primary analyst for assigned property/casualty (P/C) insurance and reinsurance companies, delivering independent credit opinions that directly inform issuers, investors, and market participants. Your work will drive consequential credit assessments in the insurance sector, with direct visibility at issuer C-suite level and influence across the broader market.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the ratings process for assigned issuers — from quantitative analysis and issuer engagement to presenting in rating committees and publishing well-supported credit opinions
- Serve as an active voting member of rating committees, deliberating on rating outcomes and reviewing analytical materials prior to publication
- Publish timely credit reports and contribute to sector research, market evaluations, and industry commentaries on emerging and complex insurance topics
- Apply strong criteria knowledge and financial statement analysis skills to assess credit quality, remaining current on industry news and broader market developments
- Collaborate with team members to share analytical insights, support peers, and align day-to-day work with broader team priorities and strategic goals
- Engage professionally with issuers, investors, and other stakeholders to gather information, present findings, and address inquiries
Compensation/Benefits Information S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $153,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits. What We're Looking For
Required Skills and Experience
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 2–4 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, business, insurance, or mathematics.
- Demonstrated experience in financial statement analysis, including GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
- Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting, with competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Permanent work authorization for the United States is required
- English: Fluent (able to conduct meetings, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally)
Preferred or Helpful Experience
- Experience in credit analysis and/or the insurance or reinsurance sector
- Understanding of fixed income markets and related credit dynamics
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
Additional Information
- We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
- Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
