This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. As a Senior Aerospace Software Engineer on our team, you will take a leading role in designing, developing, and deploying software that is critical to the success of our missions. You will leverage your technical expertise to lead complex software projects and mentor other engineers. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a variety of software applications, from onboard flight control systems and flight analysis tools to mission planning and simulation software. We are looking for a versatile and passionate software engineer who is excited to build the tools that will enable our space flight systems to meet mission requirements. Your work will directly impact our ability to design, test, and fly our vehicles safely and reliably.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications for aerospace systems.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, mission designers, and other stakeholders to define software requirements and architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Develop user interfaces that are intuitive, efficient, and meet the needs of our operators.
- Create and maintain software for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Develop and maintain simulation software for testing and verification of aerospace systems.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Experience with front-end and/or back-end application development.
- Experience with software development in a Linux environment.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.

Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with system design and architecture.
- Experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Django, Flask).
- Experience with database design and development (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Experience leading software projects and mentoring other engineers.
Base Pay Range for:
