As a
Senior Accountant at Shane Homes, you will support the accounting department in preparation and analysis of various entities and contribute to the success of departmental goals and objectives.
Those duties as assigned by the Group Controller to support the operational accounting of the Single-family divisions in both Canada and the USA.
The senior account will be expected to assist junior members of staff, providing appropriate review, support, and training where necessary.
The senior account will report directly to the Senior Controller - Shane Homes Group of Companies. However, may expect to receive direction for other senior members of the group.
The Senior accountant is expected to apply sound professional judgement in complex accounting matters, conducting appropriate levels of research and be able to present finding to senior accounting team.
The senior accountant is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, collaborate with others as required and maintain an excellent level of accountability and customer experience required of all Shane Homes staff.
We Would Love It If You Had These Too:- Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting; CPA designation, or active pursuit toward completion, is an asset.
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a senior accounting role.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements in accordance with ASPE and managing complex accounting transactions.
- Strong full-cycle accounting knowledge, including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills, including the ability to apply professional judgment, support junior team members, and manage priorities in a multi-entity environment.
Here's What Your Day-To-Day Could Look Like:- Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned corporate entities, including accurate records, timely monthly financial reporting, regulatory compliance, cash requirements/funding transfers, variance analysis, closing entries, and resolution of accounting and reporting issues.
- Review technical accounting matters, financial statements, investments, and ad-hoc reports/schedules, providing analysis and reporting to management as required.
- Coordinate and provide oversight of junior accountants' work, including preliminary review for accuracy and quality, issue resolution, workflow coordination, training, and backup support.
- Consult with external accountants, financial institutions, vendors, and other stakeholders on matters related to assigned responsibilities.
- Support the single-family accounting and operational processes, including home possessions, closing statements, new customer deals, lot inventory, and closing fund processing.
- Participate in the development and implementation of accounting systems and processes, as required.
- Support year-end review process for Single-family divisions and other assigned entities as required.
