The Senior Accountant - Investment Accounting role supports the accounting and data solutions for the investment portfolio across the Firm's fund structures. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring complete, accurate, and timely investment portfolio data to other cross-functional groups. Additionally, this role will perform day-to-day accounting functions for several of the Firm's fund structures. The Firm is a dynamic high growth organization which currently includes 25+ private investment funds across multiple domiciles and various retail funds such as business development companies ("BDCs") and a real estate investment trust ("REIT"). We are seeking a candidate to join our growing team with a proven ability to work collaboratively with groups across an organization and with outside service providers to direct appropriate information flow and effectively manage reporting deadlines.
Hybrid - 3 days in Chicago office
Job Responsibilities- Assist with keeping key data organized and accurate - including how information is structured, standard templates for recording unique transactions (such as restructures), and the core reference lists (like investment, entity, and account details) that feed reporting
- Assist with monitoring data quality (completeness, accuracy, timeliness) and resolving exceptions in investment portfolio data
- Support improving investment portfolio level reconciliations and building repeatable queries and data extracts
- Support key data transformation initiatives with outside service providers (e.g. Data Warehouse and third-party fund administrator) on data feeds (API/FTP integrations)
- Work closely with the loan operations team and understand the impact of loan and equity transactions on financial reporting
- Prepare accounting reconciliation files and coordination with the third-party fund administrator for multiple entities, including operating expenses and account reconciliations
- Perform review of monthly/quarterly trial balances prepared by the third-party fund administrator and identify and resolve issues
- Coordinate the preparation and review of quarterly financial reporting and investor capital statements for the private funds
- Coordinate the annual audit and assistance in the review and preparation of audited financial statements
- Assist with investor reporting and coordinate the capital call and distribution process with the 3rd party fund administrator
- Improve the efficiency with the current close the books process
- Prepare ad-hoc internal and external reporting
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, CPA is a plus
- Ideal candidate background would include:
- Experience in public accounting and/or professional services with client deadlines
- Experience with private credit investments and private credit funds
- Experience with Wall Street Office bank loan system
- Experience with system migrations/implementations
- Experience with large datasets
- Experience with collaborating with fund accounting and technical data teams
- A detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys a dynamic, fast-pace work environment

CompensationIt is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $95,000-115,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
