Full Job Description
The Senior Accountant Financial Reporting is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions. This role assists in the preparation and review of accurate and timely internal and external financial reports, assists and provides oversight for the recording of accounting transactions, supports audit and compliance activities, and ensures the effectiveness of internal controls and reporting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, professional in-office environment with regular interaction with executive leadership.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.
  • Leads the accounting for the Company's oil and gas mineral interest activities including acquisitions and divestitures, commodity revenue, depletion, impairment assessments and reserve reporting.
  • Performs monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements on both a standalone and consolidated basis for operating entities and parent companies, including supporting work schedules and notes and disclosures.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports supporting the internal management reporting process, including weekly cash forecasts and monthly internal reporting forecasts and accompanying analysis and insights.
  • Collaborates with subsidiary CFOs and finance teams to ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting across all entities.
  • Assists in the preparation of technical accounting memos and supports the implementation of new accounting standards, as needed.
  • Assists in the annual budgeting process including the preparation of a consolidated budget report.
  • Participates in ad hoc projects including system implementations and special financial analysis.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of financial reporting processes, systems and controls.
  • Proactively identifies and resolves issues within area of assigned responsibility.
