Full Job Description

The Aerospace Corporation is looking for a Senior Accountant / Analyst (Staff IV) to join our General Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for all facets of preparing and submitting invoices to our primary customer, leading the month-end close process, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, and interfacing with our external and government auditors. Bring your seasoned accounting expertise and do your best work at Aerospace! We are looking for a team-oriented, self-starter to join us!

This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Prepare invoices for Aerospace’s primary government customer
  • Serve as primary point of contact for billing and invoicing inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead the month-end close process by recording and reviewing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and preparing supporting schedules
  • Monitor the progress of close activities, keep management updated, and continuously seek ways to improve close processes and related documentation
  • Prepare detailed account analyses and reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
  • Interface with internal and external auditors; provide requested schedules and documentation
  • Lead and coordinate department projects and initiatives as assigned
  • Assist other Staff Accountants as needed

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the General Accounting Staff IV include:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related technical discipline
  • A minimum of six or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the accounting field
  • Experience with month-end close processes and general ledger accounting
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience preparing audit schedules and/or analyzing accounting data
  • Position requires working a standard 5-day schedule from mid-September to mid-December and occasionally working more than standard working hours during month-end and fiscal year-end closes and the year-end corporate audit

  • Possess CPA certification with hands-on public accounting experience, demonstrating robust expertise in financial analysis, auditing, and regulatory compliance
  • Hold an MBA degree, showcasing advanced business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Experience with government contract accounting regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), demonstrating specialized knowledge in compliance and cost accounting principles
  • Expertise in leveraging advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, and PivotTables to perform complex data analyses and reporting
  • A strong passion for data analysis and dashboard reporting, utilizing data-driven insights to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
