Full Job Description
About the PositionThe Senior Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and other members of the Finance and Accounting team to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the company's financial records. This position will own key components of the monthly and quarterly close, prepare and review account reconciliations, support global consolidation and intercompany accounting, and help maintain a strong internal control environment. The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in fixed asset accounting, sales and use tax reporting, external audits, SOX compliance, and public-company reporting activities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Own accounting and reporting for designated holding companies and legal entities, including monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, account analyses, and compliance reporting.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Support global consolidation activities, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and foreign-currency accounting, as applicable.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies on a timely basis.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records, including asset additions, disposals, depreciation, construction-in-progress, and periodic reconciliations.
  • Support sales and use tax reporting through Avalara, including related filings, registrations, and account reconciliations.
  • Support financial statement preparation and tie-outs, quarterly roll-forwards, and related public-company reporting activities.
  • Support external financial audits and reviews, including serving as a point of contact for audit requests and coordinating the timely completion of audit deliverables.
  • Support SOX compliance activities, including control documentation, evidence preparation, walkthroughs, remediation activities, and testing support.
  • Prepare property tax filings, census reports, and other regulatory filings and reports as needed.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, Procurement, Payroll, Tax, and other business functions to improve accounting accuracy and resolve transaction-related matters.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and support the scalability of the Finance organization.
  • Document accounting procedures, close processes, and internal control activities.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and other Finance initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including substantive responsibility for monthly and quarterly close activities.
  • Manufacturing, biotechnology, life sciences, or medical technology industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills, and experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting external audits and internal controls.
  • Experience with global consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign-currency transactions.
  • Experience with Avalara, Workday, or similar financial and close-management systems, as applicable to Alamar's actual systems environment.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, finance-system integrations, or accounting process improvements.

Salary Range:

The base salary range is $110,000 - $125,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
