Full Job Description
USRA is seeking a Scientist to support research in low-gravity exploration technology and materials science. Work will focus on combustion, fluid mechanics, and transport processes in microgravity and partial-gravity environments, as well as polymer aerogels. Research will follow NASA-approved procedures and results are expected to be published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience:Strong background in microscopy, spectroscopy, experimental techniques, and data analysis. Hands-on experience in electron microscopy, materials characterization, and organic/polymer synthesis preferred. Familiarity with space-based research protocols is a plus.
  • Candidate must be open to training in analytical, numerical, simulation, and data analysis methods.

This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. Telecommuting: The work location for this effort will be onsite at NASA GRC, at the GEARS facility, and, potentially, via telecommuting. Work location for any given period will be based on meeting order requirements effectively.
