Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Utilities Consultant to support production stabilization and hypercare activities for a utility transformation program. The role focuses on Device Management, technical master data, and Service Order processes delivered through SAP Fiori. The consultant will investigate business-reported issues, determine root causes, assess operational impact, and coordinate resolution with business users, functional teams, integration partners, and developers. The position requires hands-on SAP configuration, ABAP debugging, defect retesting, production validation, and technical documentation, with the ability to understand existing solution designs and work independently with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Triage production issues across Device Management and Service Orders, distinguishing system defects from expected behavior, data issues, and user or process-related issues.
• Reproduce reported issues, document findings, and assess operational impact to support defect prioritization.
• Support device installation, removal, and replacement processes, meter readings, and related technical master data.
• Investigate inconsistencies involving meters and linked communication devices or MTUs, including removal-date alignment.
• Validate incoming Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meter reads and support meter-read order processes for non-AMI devices.
• Support Service Order creation, maintenance, cancellation, and completion processes.
• Investigate issues involving automated order generation, batch jobs, business-event rules, and customer service workflows.
• Troubleshoot SAP Fiori application behavior, including discrepancies between backend data and displayed fields.
• Use SAP configuration expertise and ABAP debugging to investigate root causes and identify corrective actions.
• Implement authorized configuration corrections and collaborate with developers on defects requiring code changes.
• Review functional and technical design documentation to establish expected system behavior.
• Retest fixes in quality environments, perform appropriate regression testing, and validate deployed fixes in production.
• Document test scenarios, results, and supporting evidence for defect resolution.
• Coordinate integrated testing with connected-system partners, including required file triggers and downstream verification.
• Communicate defect status, investigation findings, dependencies, and resolution progress to business and technical stakeholders.
• Support additional production stabilization and Day 2 operational activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Hands-on SAP Utilities experience supporting Device Management and utility operational processes.
• Relevant SAP S/4HANA experience supporting Device Management and Service Order functional areas.
• Strong knowledge of device installation, removal, replacement, meter readings, and technical master data.
• Experience supporting Service Order creation, maintenance, cancellation, and completion.
• Experience troubleshooting SAP Fiori applications supporting utility business processes.
• Hands-on SAP configuration experience relevant to Device Management and/or Service Orders.
• Ability to use ABAP debugging to investigate application behavior and defects.
• Experience in production support, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and validation of fixes.
• Ability to assess business impact and communicate findings clearly to functional and technical teams.
• Experience collaborating with business users and developers to resolve issues from initial investigation through final resolution.
• Ability to document testing evidence and coordinate validation across connected systems.
• Ability to understand existing solution designs quickly and work independently with limited guidance.

• Experience with SAP Utilities go-live, hypercare, or production stabilization.
• Experience in the gas utility industry.
• Experience supporting linked meter and communication-device/MTU records.
• Experience with AMI and non-AMI meter-reading processes.
• Experience with automated Service Order generation, batch jobs, and business-event rules.
• Experience investigating SAP Fiori field-display and order-completion defects.
• Experience collaborating with offshore development teams and integration partners.
