Full Job Description
The Sanitation Lead will manage sanitation functions at the Clorox Atlanta West manufacturing facility, providing expertise in sanitation, GMP, microbiological, and environmental programs while partnering with the Plant Management and Quality Teams. This role will establish and continuously improve sanitation policies and procedures, support cross-functional departments, drive contamination and non-compliance prevention, and ensure regulatory and corporate requirements are met. The position will also lead training, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives, communicate technical information across all levels of the organization, and provide backup support to the Plant Quality Leader as needed.

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure that the plant cleaning and sanitation procedures are effective and efficient. Provides operational support and analytical problem-solving at the manufacturing site, drawing on internal and external experts as appropriate, and managing improvement plans and activities. Ensure practices are in place and standardized to ensure that stable conditions exist that ensure product safety and quality assurance standards are maintained in compliance with Federal regulations. Performs plant environmental, and sanitation audits and testing. Manages plant master sanitation schedule (MSS). Ensures documentation adherence and compliance. This position manages 3rd party suppliers and is accountable for the sanitation chemical and pest control services. Partners with Engineering, Operations, and Technical Services to ensure sanitary design principles are incorporated into new equipment, utilities, facility modifications, and process changes to minimize contamination risk and support sustainable hygienic operations.
  • Supports the continuous improvement of the Sanitation function by identifying and resolving gaps/waste in systems, tools, and processes. Identified as the SME for key Sanitation processes to ensure they are effectively managed, standardized, maintained, and continuously improved.
  • Ensures plant personnel are appropriately trained on sanitation methods. Provides sanitation and contamination control approval for new equipment installation, process changes, cleaning validation activities, and startup qualifications. Ensures sanitation of lines for new or changes to formulations meet plant and federal standards for documentation.
  • Provides strategic leadership and functional vision to help develop the plant and quality journey milestones. This role identifies key leverage points within organization to drive sanitation improvements. Lead processes to improve sanitation by establishing credibility with business management team. Leads sanitation and contamination control readiness for internal, corporate, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring sustained compliance and effective response to audit findings.
  • Own and manage the site's contamination control programs, including environmental monitoring, water systems monitoring, and sanitation effectiveness verification. Partner with Site Quality Leadership, Corporate BQM, Operations, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders to maintain effective contamination control programs. Lead the review, trending, and interpretation of Environmental Monitoring (EM), Cleaning & Sanitation (C&S), water monitoring, and other microbiological data to identify emerging risks and adverse trends. Partner with Site Quality Leadership to escalate issues, support investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) as needed. Communicate microbiological performance, risks, and program effectiveness to site and corporate leadership to support product quality, consumer safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for site sanitation roles and responsibilities. Identifies current gaps


What we look for:
  • 3+ years' experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods industry in a combination of Quality and/or Sanitation
  • 1+ years' experience in FDA regulated (Medical Device, Cosmetics, Food or Beverage) in a combination of Quality function
  • Knowledge of GMP, microbiology, including analytical testing and sanitation in manufacturing plants. Understanding documentation requirements, environmental monitoring, and sanitation practices and procedures.
  • Experience leading and facilitating plant-wide and small-group training sessions on sanitation programs, procedures, and best practices, ensuring employees understand and consistently follow established sanitation requirements.
  • Experience supporting and participating in internal, customer, and regulatory audits related to sanitation programs, ensuring documentation, procedures, and practices meet established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to understand and drive sanitary design principles across site.
  • Proven ability to build sustainable partnerships and collaborate effectively, with exceptional organization, time management, and project management capabilities.
  • Proven experience in cross-functional teams- R&D, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Technical Services

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

-Zone A: $74,200 - $135,800

-Zone B: $68,000 - $124,500

-Zone C: $61,800 - $113,100
