Full Job Description
Your role at Clorox:

This role sits within the Strategic Regulatory team in Legal & External Affairs and serves as a senior regulatory expert supporting Clorox's regulatory strategy, readiness, and compliance efforts.

You will help identify and assess emerging regulatory requirements, evaluate compliance risks, and translate complex regulations into actionable business solutions. You will also support regulatory advocacy by helping shape Clorox positions on emerging issues and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to influence regulatory outcomes.

Key areas of focus include chemical and ingredient regulations, packaging and labeling, plastics and microplastics, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and other emerging regulatory programs.

In this role, you will:

Regulatory Subject Matter Expertise
  • Serve as a regulatory subject matter expert for strategic regulatory programs impacting Clorox products, packaging, ingredients, and labeling.
  • Support regulatory strategy across assigned priority areas, including emerging and evolving requirements.
  • Lead and influence Clorox's approach to EPR regulatory strategy.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into clear business implications, compliance obligations, and implementation options.
  • Identify regulatory risks, compliance gaps, and practical pathways to support informed business decisions.


Regulatory Interpretation & Execution
  • Interpret laws, regulations, guidance, and program requirements to determine applicability, obligations, timing, and business impact.
  • Support regulatory filings, reports, registrations, certifications, and other compliance deliverables.
  • Develop regulatory analyses, summaries, and documentation that support compliance execution and decision-making.


External Engagement
  • Monitor regulatory developments and emerging initiatives that may impact Clorox products and business operations.
  • Track evolving EPR requirements, including Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) and Stewardship Organization (SO) programs, and translate obligations into actionable business requirements.
  • Participate in trade associations, industry groups, and regulatory forums to help represent Clorox's interests.
  • Serve as a liaison between external stakeholders and internal business partners on regulatory implementation matters.


Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Government Affairs, Legal, Sustainability, and other functions to evaluate regulatory impacts and implementation strategies.
  • Collaborate with regional regulatory teams and business partners to ensure alignment on requirements and execution plans.
  • Communicate regulatory developments, compliance priorities, and business impacts to stakeholders and leadership.

What we look for:

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, compliance, or a related technical/regulatory function.
  • Strong understanding of complex regulatory frameworks and multi-jurisdictional regulatory programs.
  • Ability to assess regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.
  • Experience managing complex compliance requirements involving multiple stakeholders, timelines, and data sources.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven success working across functions in a matrixed organization.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting regulatory programs across multiple product categories and/or regions.
  • Experience working with EPR organizations, regulators, trade associations, consultants, or similar external stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting compliance with international regulations.
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or JD) in a relevant technical or regulatory field.


Workplace type:
Hybrid - This role is based at Clorox headquarters in Oakland, California, with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
