Job descriptionThe Sales Director North America is responsible for driving profitable growth across the US and Canada through the development of distributor networks, strategic accounts, e-commerce channel, and aftermarket partnerships. The role leads the commercial strategy, sales organization, and customer relationships while ensuring close alignment with marketing, supply chain, and demand planning teams to deliver sustainable growth, strong market presence, and exceptional customer experience.
1. Commercial Strategy & Business Growth
- Define and execute the North America commercial strategy across distribution, key accounts, e-commerce, and strategic channel partnerships
- Identify growth opportunities through channel expansion, distributor development, new customer acquisition, and market penetration initiatives
- Establish annual and multi-year revenue, growth, and profitability targets and market share objectives aligned with business goals
- Ensure execution excellence across pricing, promotions, inventory planning, and customer development initiatives
- Partner with Marketing to develop trade marketing, promotional, and channel activation initiatives that increase distributor engagement and end-user demand
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure successful execution of commercial plans and customer commitments
- Provide market and customer insights to support product strategy, portfolio development, and customer experience improvement
2. Distributor, Key Account & Channel Management
- Develop and execute the North America distributor strategy, ensuring optimal market coverage, customer penetration, and alignment with business objectives
- Build and maintain executive relationships with key distributors, national accounts, strategic partners, and channel stakeholders
- Drive distributor performance through joint business plans, sales reviews, performance metrics, and growth initiatives
- Support distributors in improving sell-in, sell-out, customer acquisition, and product penetration across the automotive and powersports aftermarket
3. Forecasting & Integrated Business Planning
- Lead the commercial forecasting process in partnership with Demand Planning and Supply Chain teams
- Ensure forecasts are aligned with business objectives, inventory requirements, and supply capabilities
- Participate in S&OP and business planning processes to support inventory availability and service levels
- Identify commercial risks, supply constraints, and growth opportunities, developing mitigation and recovery plans when required
4. Team Leadership
- Lead, and develop the sales organization to achieve business objectives and foster a high-performance culture
- Ensure the commercial organization is appropriately structured, resourced, and aligned to business priorities
- Establish clear objectives, KPIs, and development plans for team members
- Support talent development, coaching, succession planning, and capability building
ProfileEducation / Qualification:- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Finance, Engineering,
or a related field. - MBA or Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or Sales Management preferred.
- Additional training in Sales Leadership, Strategic Management, Commercial Excellence, or Channel Management is a plus.
Experience needed:- Minimum 12-15 years of progressive commercial experience in sales, business development, or channel management roles
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing multi-level sales organizations and regional sales teams
- Proven experience developing and executing commercial growth strategies across multiple channels and customer segments
- Strong experience managing distributor networks, key accounts, and strategic channel partnerships
- Demonstrated success delivering revenue growth, market share expansion, and profitability improvement.
- Experience managing sales forecasting, commercial planning, and business reviews in collaboration with Supply Chain and Finance functions
- Experience with P&L ownership, budget management, and commercial performance management
- Automotive aftermarket, lubricants, automotive parts, mobility, industrial distribution, or adjacent industries strongly preferred
- Experience working within a multinational and matrix organization preferred
